pulled oil pump to inspect gears and they look good. Don't recall ever having metal in the oil during oil changes.
You can open up the hole there up to engine to 1/2 inch and the port that flows into that rectangular port can be opened up also. That's the pressure side on both so it's not mandatory but doesn't hurt.
Pull the gears out and get a clear pic of the aluminum gear pockets. Looks like some metal went thru, but you can probably re-use the cover and housing.
