My daughter took the mechanical aptitude test for the Caterpillar apprenticeship program. She scored so high, in the top 3% they moved her to the front of the interview line. I'm proud of her.
Here she is changing the hubs on her F250 4x4. I was only allowed to spectate and answer questions but otherwise zip it dad! She had to use a cheater bar though.

Pretty sure my daughter is headed in the same direction, she loves working on the cars!

Awesome! None of my boys were at all inclined to work on vehicles. Now I am waiting to see if my Granddaughter (2, 3/4) or Grandson (5 months) have any interest. Having my Wildcat, maybe I can get them interested from a young age..... please......

Makes us Super proud as dads when our kids, especially daughters, take an interest in what we do!

What else do you all share interests in?

Caterpillar pays you while attending education/training, pays for hotel while at school if in a different city and a fuel stipend. She will train in St. Augustine, Orlando or Tampa not sure yet. They also supply all your tools and toolbox that you will need; you pay for tools you want.

Shooting. She is a very, very good shot with a handgun. She hits 5 out of 6 clay targets on a berm 25 yards away with my 357 Magnum, not quite as accurate with her 9 mil. And of course our horses; she is an exceptional horse trainer, I really thought she would go down that path with so many people asking for help and willing to pay her after seeing our horses so well behaved especially around little children. She's taught them to always face a person and never turn their butts to you, ever. They also turn on voice command.

It is nice to see your daughter was raised without gender bias in her life. You allowed her to experience the world and chose her path in life, great job of parenting. You should be very proud of the independent young woman you have raised. Remember the gentle sex is far tougher than we are. Congrats on a job well done.

    Congratulations to both of you.

Letting her learn how things work, come apart and go back together are skills the newer generations have lost.

Years ago I would make my stepdaughter do here own brakes and tuneups. She never got much more involved, but has never had a repair shop tell her a bs song and dance about a vehicle repair, as she has the basic knowledge to call them out.

    Congrats again,

I’ll say something for women in a predominantly male occupation, the are VERY conscientious, detailed, and take pride in their work, much more than a lot of men I’ve worked with;)
    Good for your daughter!

And we all know what those rocker trim screws are about! Great for the "apprentice" to practice on. Carry on Dad! ws

Building memories neither of you will ever forget. Nice job. You probably do this already, but teach her to know ALL tha basics and more so she can show the 'boys' she knows what she's talking about with cars.

Well done gentlemen! I'm just now embarking on this fatherhood journey and though my experience has been brief, it's very trying at times to say the least. So to see your young ones beginning to prosper with the seeds you planted with them many years ago has to be as satisfying as anything. Hats off to you and congrats.

Always nice to read about kids that can and want to spin wrenches, thanks for sharing!
