Hi everyone, Here is an update on my dad. I just got back from visiting my mom & dad. This past friday 1/3/14 mom got a call from the hospital telling her that he had been there for 2 weeks & that she needed to make a decision with 3 choices. #1 - move him home, #2 - move him to a nursing home, or #3 - give him up to Hospice. He had shown no improvement since going to the hospital. Mom decided to let Hospice take him. I called people in our family one by one from his room to let them talk to him for one last time. ( I was crying between each call ) He was able to listen & talk to everybody. They told us Hospice would come for him a little later & that he would be sedated for the move. He is at Hospice & having comfortable care now, compared to the misery he was going thru at the hospital. I had always heard great things about the organization of Hospice but never had any experiences with them. All I can say from my mom & I's experience is they are a class A organization. They are the most compassionate, caring, helpful people I have ever seen. Every last person we have met has been great to my dad & also us. They take the time with you, explain what & why they are doing it, & are so comforting. Even the receptionists are caring & super nice. I reaffirmed to my mom that she made the only choice she could have for dad. During my visit I was able to talk to dad, laugh with him, and reflect on great memories. It was so hard to leave my dad knowing, I will never see him alive again on earth. I am just waiting for mom to call & tell me he is gone.

Rick, My heart reaches out to you. Been down your road. Hospice does a great job. You have been given a great gift to be able to have your dad say his goodbye's to those that were Important to him.

Sorry I'm late to this thread - my prayers are with you and your family. My dad died yesterday, so I know the feelings. I last saw my dad on Nov 17 and knew I'd never see him again.

I continue to pray for your dad, you and your entire family. I am thankful for you that you were able to spend the time with him and to see that his needs are being taken care of in a respectful caring way. I lost my mother 10 years ago to lung cancer. In her final days she was attended to by Hospice. Even in our saddest hours God watches over us. May God give peace to your family.

Hey guys, Here is an update. I did not feel like doing this until now. We got the call from mom that My dad lost his fight 1/8/14 at Hospice. I was able to fly out to see him in the hospital & bring him to the Lord before he passed away. I am so very thankful for that. I again want to thank the Buick community for all the prayers & responses to my thread about my dad. I know alot of you have already been thru this in the past & wish I could have prayed for all of you. I have lifted up prayers for you UticaGeoff in the recent loss of your dad also.

YOU GUYS & GALS ARE GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I apologize, I have been away from this part of the site for a while. I am sorry to hear that your Dad passed.

When my Dad passed a few years ago I found myself discovering that he lives on inside of me. His wisdom and love are with me every day. I hope that you may find a similar comfort.
