Hey guys its been awhile since I have posted. Over the next several weeks I will be posting pics of my 7 year build, its pretty much done, and well at least its presentable. I have been meaning to do it for a while but procrastination has always kicked in. Ill start with the purchase of the vehicle to its near completion. I will only cover the major steps so as not to clog the thread with too many details. I built it as I came across the money, so I took a phased approach.

Ill start with the purchase. I found this vehicle on EBay November of 2006, a 70 Skylark with a 455 & turbo 400. I wish I had kept the wording of the ad to post here. Basically, it said nice 70 skylark with big block engine. The owner stressed that the body was good & the engine was in good running condition. Below are some of the original pics from the ad. The bid was within a few hundred dollars of the Buy It now price so I jumped on it. This was my 1st car that I bought off the internet sight unseen. It looked to be a nice Skylark; I had been looking for a while, the price was reasonable. I arranged to pick it up the upcoming weekend. The car was just inside Ohio on the PA turnpike, I live in Springfield VA. It was about a 300+ mile drive.

I met the owner, who runs a small used car dealership; he came across it from a local individual who had to sell it to pay for his daughters hospital medical bills. From what he gathered the car had come from North Carolina, the PO also owned a muffler shop so he had thrown some money at the car for new parts; the car had long tube headers & new exhaust with HEI ignition. The PO was going to clone it to be a GS, had bought a GS hood but the seller had sold it separately. The PO put a nice set of Buick rally wheels on it wrapped in new Firestone 70 series raised white letter tires. He also added the GS rocker panel trim. The body showed no rust & looked to have semi-fresh paint but had some imperfections & unevenness. It was a good 20 footer. It had some pin holes in the trunk where rust was developing but overall the car looked good in person, I heard the car run, it had an aggressive tone, I liked the fresh bullet mufflers it was sporting. I drove it onto a U-Haul trailer that I rented locally. I trailered it home where it became part of the family.
