Super mundane winter project. I should be pulling the intake on the F100 because of a coolant leak between the head and intake, but my buddy with the heated shop bailed on me. So I'm polishing the new/used wiper arm I got from Cole to match the one that I had done up already and was on the car. The original had a super small crack just starting back when I did the cowl detailing a page or 4 ago, but grew to full length. Just a heads up: I've been told by numerous people that the arms are the same left and right. This is not true. The angle at the wiper mounting end is different so that the wipers sit at horizontal when installed properly (Rivs have the wipers both parking in the middle of the windshield like many sports cars. Think 80s vette). We did not know this and I got a left from Cole when I needed a right. I'm going to do a little persuasion and see if I can get it correct. Otherwise I'll be buying another from him with no hard feelings as this was no fault of his.
About 15 degrees in the garage but job done. Better then it was before, even. Just went slow in the vise with constant pressure and all good. Car has about an inch of dust it seems like. Might give it a wash Sunday. Going to be in the 40s.
62 degrees on February 1. Pulled the Riv out for a wash, then took it for a little cruise around the neighborhood. Wind was blowing up to 75 mph gusts and was afraid of tree branches falling, so took it home for a nice waxing in the garage after I washed the floor. After not driving any of my good cars for 3 months even that little bit put a smile on my face I still have this morning.
And thus ends my love affair with the Black River. It was a pain in the a$$ car and a lot of work, but it came out great and I'll miss it very much. Nothing on the road got as many looks or compliments. Washed and waxed it one more time, then took it around the block. Loaded up and gone the next day. Goodbye friend.
Been a year since the car left as of today (well, it was a leap year). Still miss it sometimes. Still sitting at the same dealership looking like a neglected p.o.s. now.
