Let me know what you guys think. The car looks better in the video than in reality but it is a nice looking 15 footer. It is a 73 455 bored .30 over with 10.2 to 1 compression, small valve heads and stage 1 cam. Hooker super comp headers and a 850 holley double pumper which is a little too big i think on a stock intake. It has true duals with 3 inch stainless exhaust and flowmaster mufflers. 3.42 posi 7.5 with a 8.5 waiting once the 7.5 gets destroyed and a th350 tranny that stalls between 1800-2000.

I got tired of trying to build my big block regal so I bought this one a few months ago. I haven't worked on it much but plan to port the heads, new intake and cam. I also have an 850 Qjet that i plan to try on it.

If anyone has any suggestions then let me know. Hopefully i will get it out to the track next weekend on the last day of test and tune for the year to get a time on it. She runs decent but not impressive at the moment. Got some tweaking to do.

Looks good and sounds good. I like the early gn paint job on it. I wouldnt worry to much about the rear end untill you start using really sticky tires on it. Ive been running 7.5 with richmond 373 gears in my car since i built it both with a health small block and both bbb that i have ran with no problem yet but i only run drag radials and not slicks. Always great to see another big block regal.

Thats my favorite color scheme on Regals, they had a similar one on Early Malibu's too. Sounds good, I am a Flowmaster guy myself.

I drag raced a Malibu with slicks and a stout SBC, ran 11.70's for three years on a 7.5 with 28 spline axles and a used posi from an F-body ('93-up).

Big Buick motors really like big carbs. Add and intake and drive.
Drive it like it is! I need a set of those Buick Rally wheels for my Regal beater project!

Thank you Buick family for all of the encouragement. I got some work to do but when it is a labor of love I shouldn't mind too much. I bought my first 455 seven years ago, bought the 87 regal 6 years ago, then a 67 430 about 3 years ago and still never got the 87 regal running. I decided that if I ever wanted to ride bbb then I would need to just buy a running car and then put my fingerprint on it. So now I am rolling.

Gonna put my sunpro tach in this weekend and do some more testing and tuning.

Well I made it to the track yesterday but now wished that I had stayed home. I got 3 passes in before the tow truck took us home.

First pass, took it very easy. Wanted to see how it ran because I have never ran it hard at all. Went 16.77 with a 2.29 60ft. I baby the thing and just easyed on the throttle at the light. Never even gave it full throttle.

Second pass got on it a little harder. Left the line at about 1500 rpm with a 2.14 60 and finished with a 15.3.

This is when I should have stopped and fixed my tach. The thing was all over the place after I took off. Idleing and just reving the enginet the thing was fine. During my runs it would bounce around and then level out.

Well third run I had a 2.01 60ft time. I was so focused on watching the tach and trying to shift at 5k that I didn't listen to the engine or feel the car. The tach bounced around and leveled out at 6700 and with an oh s**t I shifted into second. The damage was done because I heard it start to knock. I backed off and shifted into 3rd and coasted thru the trap at 16.0. I felt like the biggest fool in the world because I know better.

Well I guess I will have the winter to think about my new engine. First thing I am going to get is a msd box with the rev limiter. I do have a good running 73 455 waiting for my attention and a set of 67 430 heads (big port I think) waiting for some abuse too.

I hope nobody else had a weekend like mine.

Hey thanks. I should have put one on but you know how that goes. By the way do you have any time slips on your car yet? Can't help but watch your videos on youtube. I think you love your buick about as much as I love mine  . But keep the videos coming.

that sucks. i feel your pain. when i had the 455 in my regal i was having a decent day running 13.5-13.7 but i new the car had more. decided to uncap my exhaust and run open header. didnt watch my tach and wound it up to far too. same outcome. was coasting to the return road, go to give it a little gas and "knock, knock, knock." limped back to the pits and drove it right up on the trailer, then grabbed a beer. found stockish 430 to put in it while i rebuild the 455. it sucks to learn the hard way that stock bottom ends + rpms = motor coming out of the car again. if you put the other motor in, i would say drive it and just enjoy cruising untill you rebuild the motor. having 2 broken engine sucks twice as bad.

It was the fear of something just like that happening that pushed me to buy the car hauler and tow the car to the track. My closest track is over an hour away and that would be one expencive tow bill.

AAA plus member. For $120 a year i get 100 free miles of towing. The track is about 40 miles one way from my house so i have 60 more free tow miles to go.
