My 1st Buick 455 Regal was completely stock ... that is; BEFORE SCOTTY GUADAGNO!

    STAGE-2 TORQUE STAGE-1 Buick "494Stroker" in 2021

The attached photos are of my very 1st Buick 455 Regal. In 1996, a friend of mine (Dietrich) and I pulled the Buick 455 from a 1974 Buick Electra with a th400 long-tail 3-speed automatic. The 455 in the Electra had the "points" type distributor (I later bought a H.E.I unit which was correct for that year). I paid $75 for a used/30-day guaranteed th400 short-tail 3-speed automatic that Dietrich & I bolted to the 74' 455 and dropped it in the 85' Regal. Everything lined-up beautifully (after pulling/reinstalling motor 3 times that day), but the hood refused to close for @ 45-days until that day I was reading Car Craft ... and spotted "Poston Enterprises" add:TU:. Jim Poston sold me the chassis mounts I needed, and one week later and 5-engine installs/pulls later ... my 1985 Buick Regal was indeed a "1985 Buick 455 Regal." Four months later, I threw a rod (those damn high-rpm burnouts ... on a stock & smokey 74' 455, with no oil pressure gauge, with just a plug-change:pray:. Prior to that I beat a Buick GN w/Chevy350/th350/GN rear and dual exhaust with that stock "under-the-weather" 455 Buick motor.

The car sat for about 6 months ... till I was told of "Pee-Gee Performance" by chance/fate from a tow truck driver in a local diner.

I had already made arrangements (deposit/including parts from Poston) for "SOME-SMALL-SHOP" in Brooklyn to rebuild the motor for me ... and with the assistance of The NYPD, I was able to get my Regal, parts and partial deposit returned ... and the next week I first spoke to Scotty:TU:.

Scotty showed me how I damaged cylinders 7&8 beyond sleeving, so I bought a bare-block off Scotty's shelf for $250. Scotty gave me the Lunati 501-lift cam (I had stock 1:55 rockers), so I sent Poston's cam back for credit. I swear-to-God the car had my left leg in a "cramp" for 2-days due to the TORQUE.:TU: Two months later, I was able to afford 2-1/2" true duals with Super Turbo Mufflers. About 3-months later, the Regal burned to the ground (tranny fluid line broke/fluid was forced out of dip-stick under hood and ignited. The motor/tranny/dual exhaust was transferred 4-months later into a charcol-gray 1987 Buick Regal. Three months later I bought a posi-rear for $400 off a 1987 Olds/442 Hurst w/3.73's. On the Belt Parkway with 2 passengers, I played with a blue Porsche 911 (year not sure) ... slowing to 3,500-rpm (as Scotty suggested) and as soon as the Porsche got to my bumper, I pulled away @ 3-cars from 3,500 to 5,500-rpm. That was the fastest of yet I have driven. Scotty suggested it was @ 145-150-mph:Do No:. It was sooo cool.

About a year later, some clowns stole it between 2:30-5-am on a Friday night. The Buick set off car alarms at 15-mph ... yet I heard NADA 6 houses away.:ball:

Wow ... TMI; hope you enjoy the pics. :TU:
