That's right boys and girls, you read it correctly. I am finally getting my very own GS. I can finally talk about MY GS and not just Uncle Don's. Hahaha. I haven't seen the car in person yet, but the pictures sure do look good. And from the info I have gotten from the seller, this looks like it should be a really good buy.

It is supposed to be mostly original, with 67,000 original miles. It's a California car, appears to be born and raised it's whole life there. It's a Z code car, so born in Fremont, CA. I am told I will be the 3rd owner. The car is Black right now, told it was painted some 20 years ago. The car was originally Astro Blue, D-D. If the car is in as good of shape in person as it appears in the pictures I will be enjoying the car pretty well as it sits for a few years before I possibly commit it to decommissioning for restoration. Seller claims no rust. Being from CA its very well possible and I sure hope that is the case. Even says the chrome and all the shiny bits are in good shape, no rust, and not pitted. It's a very well optioned car to boot. Complete with A/C, PB, PS, Tilt Wheel, Power Windows, Remote Driver Mirror. Even appears to have the switch under the dash for Hazard Lights. It's a blue vinyl interior car, currently with bucket seats. Per the cowl tag, it shows it was originally a bench seat car.

I am flying out to California end of next week to take a look at the car in person and meet the transportation company there to pick it up. If all goes as planned it should be back home in Texas a few days after that.

Once it gets home Don and I are going to be checking it all over very carefully to see how original it really is, but its looking real promising so far. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the build sheet is still somewhere in the car. Would love to have that little piece of memorabilia to go along with my first muscle car. I can't explain how excited/nervous I am about the whole thing. I've been waiting a long time to get my own muscle car and to top it off its a GS!

Since I haven't seen the car in person yet, I don't really have any pictures. I will be sure to try and get on to update with some pictures next week when I am in CA. But for now here is a little teaser to help hold you impatient ones at bay.

Thanks to everyone for the replies. It's greatly appreciated. I'm chomping at the bit, for one: to get out there and see her in person and two: wanting to get her home.

Ted - I was watching it on evil-bay too! And for a while there I thought I wasn't going to get it cause the price started jumping early on the last day. I had contacted the seller via his craigslist ad, I believe on the first day the car was posted on ebay. We discussed a little about the car and I made an offer. After we discussed a little more, the seller decided he wanted to wait out the ebay auction to see what happened. While I wasn't thrilled about that idea I completely understood. The seller told me if the car didn't sell on ebay that he would be in touch. He was a man of his word. About an hour after the auction ended he called and we struck a deal. He said that he had gotten several emails from people wanting the car after the auction ended. Since he talked to me first, he gave me first crack at it. I sure am glad he did! I have wanted a muscle car of my own for as long as I can remember.

I love the look people get on their faces when I tell them what I bought. Like the people at work. I'm 29 and the majority of the people I work with are old enough to be my parents. So I told them I bought a car and of course they ask, "Really, what did you get?". I respond, "a 1966 Buick Skylark Gran Sport!". They get this puzzled look on their face like, how do you know what that is. Hahaha. Priceless!

Well, we checked out the car. It doesn't look as nice in person as in the pictures. But I had prepared myself for that. The pictures that we're posted in the ad were from over a year ago. And being taken in dim light hid a few things. However, SHES COMING HOME!! There is practically zero rust on the car and it is very straight. Also, all the chrome and pot metal is in awesome shape. Very little to no pitting. Andd if there is pitting it is very light. The louvers on the hood, OMG! Awesome! Unfortunately dry climates aren't good for soft materials so the gaskets and seals are wore out. But its also over 40 years old. I also confirmed it is a numbers matching car, on the engine anyway. I know the trans was built in 66 but that's all I could make out for now. Need to wipe the gunk off the servo cover when it gets home. The car also fires right up and sounds healthy. So all in all its an awesome start to a project. Very little sheet metal work. I'm all about that.

I will post pictures when I get back to Texas. The phone is not wanting to cooperate with that part.

She is home!!! The truck driver dropped her off last night. I was able to take her out for a little cruise before it got too late. The engine and trans seem to be running well. She purrs like a kitten cruising down the road. Gonna need a new suspension and gotta tighten up the steering. Not sure if things are a little worn in the steering box or what, but we will figure it out. She is running pretty rich so gotta do some adjustments on the carb. Gonna take off work a little early today and go try to get it Titled and Registered. I can't wait to get started working on this old girl and making her mine.
