Well I got some stuff ordered for the car!

    • Edelbrock hardline with filter,
    • -6AN to hose barb fitting (x2),
    • Braided fuel line,
    • -6AN to 1/2-20 in flare fitting
    • And 5qts of Valvoline VR1 20w50 oil

Also got a 3 ton double pumper jack ordered from Harbor Freight (didn't need a 3 ton one for the car but i also need it for my truck:)

And also 4 jack-stands so I can get this beast in the air and drop the tank! Gonna clean it out as best I can and then put it back in with some fresh 91 in it!

Excited to get working on this thing for real :bglasses:

Got the Edelbrock fuel hard-line in and of course my heater hose is right in the way... It's also cracked so I'll end up replacing the heater hose and rerouting it elsewhere... Not a huge biggie. Was thinking of routing along the intake next to the valve cover...good idea or no?

I think instead of rebuilding my current master cylinder I'll probably just get one of these nice ones for only $36, help clean up the engine bay too!

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

I'd switch to a dual master cylinder as long as you are doing it. A dual is much safer.

How would I have to change the lines themselves if I did that? The same company has power brake lines for sale brand new (posted above I believe) so I could probably find a power setup and convert it right?

So I got the car up on jackstands and checked it out underneath. Lots of surface rust but very clear otherwise!!! Gonna see if I can get the gas tank dropped tomorrow! Also is there any way to tell if i have a posi without taking the inspection cover off? I plan on it eventually to replace the fluid but just curious

Man it's been almost a year since I've updated this! Unfortunately progress has been rather slow since. I have since cleaned out the gas tank, finished the brakes and installed an MSD distributor and coil. Working on timing now but it's back on the ground and looking good!

I should be able to drive it soon once we figure out the timing and drain/refill the coolant!

Progress can sometimes be slow. Other things can come up and derail progress. Now she's rollin' again! Did you clean and paint the underside when you had it on the stands?

Do your self a big favor and make sure that the exhaust pipe is repaired and fixed so it exits the car, not terminates underneath it.

Wouldn't want to lose a member due to exhaust fumes.

No, but this thing has so much sentimental value to me that I'll be doing as much of a restoration as possible, and it's definitely getting new paint. So when I do that, I'll sandblast the bottom of it and clean it up as nice as I can possibly get it. I also want to eventually fab up a way to mount a Chevy rear axle in it somehow so I can run a locker in it and do a disk brake conversion as well. But for right now I just want to get it running and driving!

Oh yes, the exhaust is one of the first things it's going to get other than a carwash! I'm thinking of doing dual exhaust with bellflower exits like this:
