By no means am i a ford man but i will give credit to the 2018. They run very impressive at the dragstrip for a stock production car. Price tag is out of range for the average working man tho
I like the Mustang 5.0 that came out 2 yrs ago. When you look behind it the fast back looks like a bubble. Standing behind car looking forward. Do not like the big fat straight back on the newer Mustangs
I've said it before, I'm NOT a Mustang guy, I just play one on the internet. Just happens that's what I wanted as a kid and got at 12 years old. I like 67-72s (especially Sportsroofs), 87-93 5.0s, and the '05-present. Any of the others....meh.
72 Stage1 That’s What I’m talkin about!,,, The state police and Pgh police had them back in the day. Bad Ass! The LX is fast too
Of course the 70 GS is my first choice but in 2016 my wife wanted a 5.0 convertible and we pulled the trigger. Impressive performance and great looks. She always insists that I drive it when we take it out and I always put it sport mode and use the paddle shifters. I have to admit it is a blast to drive with a great exhaust sound especially with the Rousch mufflers! I am careful with it but not as careful as I am with the Buick since it is near a 50 year old car that I want to keep looking new especially now that it is almost restored. Nice to have his and her convertibles! I am a fan of old GM products and except for the C7, Camaro and new Regal, but prefer newer Ford products over new GM models. Now if GM would just supercharge or turbocharge the new GS!!
My second purchase of a new car in 1987. An '88 LX 5.0, 5-speed with T-Roof. Yes, I am that guy that has kept it so I can restore it one day.
I think market competition may have something to do with that, John.....The Model T was basically a monopoly.
During the Model T production run, Ford never had less then six significant competitors. If you add in the lesser-known marques, Ford was one of over a dozen American companies manufacturing automobiles during 1909 to 1927. The T was easily the most successful American brand ever, because Henry Ford identified a market segment and built an automobile to fill it. He had no monopoly or other advantage; he was simply better then others at doing what he did. "Build a better mousetrap, and the world will beat a path to your door" - Emerson. "Build a better mouse, and the world will beat a path to your door" - Disney. Ford built a better mouse.
You have to give Ford credit... They created something special & they clearly understand the Mustang customer. I could be wrong but I cannot think of another car except the Corvette that has a similar following.
