I have an M-21 Muncie that needs synchros and a rebuild. Parts are less than $ 200.00. What cost for a tranny shop? In and out of the car and I may as well put in a clutch. Regards, Upstaged in SW Michigan

I know this doesn't answer your question, but if you're feeling up to it, they really aren't hard to rebuild (I found it quite fun to be honest). I bought a rebuilding DVD that I played on my laptop as I went that was spot on and a great resource, along with a specialty wrench (it was about $12 if I remember right) and made an afternoon out of it. Anybody who is mechanically inclined can handle it IMHO. The only somewhat unusual tool that came in handy for me was my shop press, other than that it was pretty straight forward.

X2 what Shawn said! All you need is a shop press and mechanical skills slighty past a tune up, and you can do it!

Using a dial indicator is a must.

Yeah, that too. If it is something you'd want to do, I'd be glad to let you borrow the DVD I used. It was a great reference and after watching it once through gave me plenty of confidence to do it.

I've done it in the past. You can't possibly get the gears installed in the wrong order. It's all made to fit together only one way. You could probably find a book/utube clip online that covers the details, or use the DVD Shaun is offering. I had the service manual- a lot more heavy reading than a DVD! Try it, it really is pretty fun to do.

If you do not want to do it yourself, - Try asking Dennis Maroudas @ DME 606-237-6648
