I have a Delco points distributor on my 470 and have a Lectric limited single wire electronic ignition conversion in it. I'm told using this control box will help eliminate a lot of the unburned gas at lower rpm' and make the engine more efficient. Anyone using one , are they compatable with my single wire ignition system without making changes , and are they easy enough for the average guy to install ? The single wire conversion uses an old style balist resistor and I am using an Accel super stock coil. Thanks for any info. Roger

First off what condition is that old stock Dizzy in ?
Adding a hotter or multiple sparks to a motor who's Dizzy Bearings or shaft are rocking around or drive gear is worn will not cure anything!
If your running on the rich side at idle and low speed and your running a Holley Carb then you may have a model with removable idle air bleeds that you can tweak/ tune to get your idle speed right with less throttle opening which is the case many times.
A extended tip spark plug might help your cause also if your plug is not on the edge of being too hot now!

Unlikely you're going to notice any difference at all, aside from the rev-limiter.

As said, assure that the distributor isn't worn-out, that the centrifugal and vacuum advance curves are adjusted to suit the engine and vehicle, and you're essentially done with the ignition. ("I" would convert to an HEI, because I don't see a need for ballast resistors when transistors can be perfectly capable of handling the current)

If you have a lot of "unburned gas at lower rpm", something is wrong.

Thanks for the info guys. The distributor was brand new when JW at Tri Shield set it up and the engine only has about 5000 miles on it now and still runs flawlessly with instant throttle response. I'll look into the carb and the idle air bleeds it's an 850 DP Roger

I would try the MSD box, they are easy to hook up. Use the white wire for the trigger, hook it to the single wire originally on the coil-. Eliminate the ballast resistor, you don't need it. Your original wire to the coil + hooks to the small MSD red wire. All it does is turn the box on.

You can spend more money, but it's not going to run more flawlessly with more-instant throttle response.

Why do you think you have "a lot of unburned gas at lower rpm" if the thing runs perfectly?

I personally don't think there is too much unburned gas ,it's my wife's ultra nose that thinks it smells too much like gas when it runs and a guy at this weekends car show suggested I look into this MSD control box. This is more a satisfy the spouse search than a performance issue. I worded the inquiry to convince her I was serious about looking into it. So forgive me guys for making this sound like a problem that needed solving but I'm sure some of you have been in a similar position at one time or another. You have given me some ideas to pass on to the nose. Thanks Roger

First Guess: Nothing short of feedback fuel control (O2 sensor based computer fueling) and perhaps a catalyst or two is going to satisfy her.
