After reading the other throttle cable threads, I am now wondering about the difference between 1970-1972 and 1973 Big Block models.

1973 Part Number: 1244120 and looks to be 18 ¼” long from the firewall to the carb, and 11” from the firewall to the mounting bracket. I just measured the original one on the car.

I don’t see dimensions for the TA Performance TA1260 cable and the Stage1 Restoration.com big block throttle cable is listed at 21″

Can there really 1.5-2” difference between them, with the ’73 one being shorter??

The total cable length is not really important, it's the cable travel that insures that the carburetor can go from fully closed to fully open. It either does or it doesn't. You can modify the cable bracket to make up for minor length differences. Measure the travel, not the total length. If the total cable length wasn't long enough, you'll have problems with it not reaching from the firewall to the throttle bracket, or to the attachment at the gas pedal.

Thank you, Larry - I measured this evening, and it looks like I have 1.5" of travel... will bolt the carb back on next and see how much I need. Then, add the new TV Cable... and finally, maybe a new Throttle Cable. Thanks for the reply!

Yup - turns out my '73 needs about 1" more from the firewall to the carb bracket over the stock reproduction 70-72.
