I’m sorting through my front springs to build another chassis, and now I don’t remember which application these are for. Does anyone know what Moog 5398 front springs would be for? I know they are 68-72 A-body,but that’s about it.
Brian i Googled it. Buick v8 thread came up. Everyone complained that their GS 455 was way to low. Must be a 350 car Spring.
I probably had them for one of my lighter 455 cars. No AC,manual steering. Maybe even a glass hood. They might crossover to a 350 AC spring.
Wanna say them are the ones i used in my orange car,,..number sounds familiar,..if so they are very similar to the Moroso springs
Not sure who that is? I used these springs on my GSX restoration and car sat perfectly. I compared it with stock springs and they were right on. I think guys are used to getting heavy duty springs and having their car on the moon. That’s just not the way they were. Use others at your peril.
My friend didn’t listen to me when I changed his springs for him in his 442 Convertible. He insisted on heavy duty. Now on the highway the car lifts and floats in the air after hitting a bump. Feels like we are on the high seas in a life raft. It’s too damn funny. Car sits to high as well.
Mine don’t sit high. They are perfect height. People get in my car can’t believe the ride. How quite and smooth. Buick was known for that. Compared to other A- Body’s
moog 5536 moog5409 I imagine these were picked from GS club. From articles. But probably chose From the Moog chart 20 years ago. Springs are everything for the ride.
I thought i chose the heaviest spring i could get. I think the rears where picked for hauling a trailer.
Never measured the body to floor. On those measurements you posted a year ago from the service manual. But now that we here. I may find those measurements on my phone and check for shits and giggles
Kinda wish i put those 350 springs in my car. But here in Pa. Our roads are very squirrelly. So may not be wise. I have Drag pac 90/10 in the front and 50/50 in the back. But my car not high HP. So i should be happy with what i chose.
