As the title says: Any opinions on Metro SuperSoft (Sponge) vs Soff Seal vs Steelerubber weatherstriping? This is for a 67 4 door Special wagon which they all claim to supply. I am concerned about fit and closing the doors.

Do a search as this topic has been discussed over and over.
Everyone has they're own opinions and experiences depending on the application.

Well, yes and no. I only found 2 posts on the 67's and there was no discussion of one brand over the other. However, people on the Chevelle site had problems with the Soff Seal being too hard and causing the doors to be hard to shut. So I am looking specifically at the 67's and what folk's recent experience has been.

I recall Steele Rubber won the previous debate in the same survey taken by Jason Cook in a thread. Look at Jason's threads to find the same.

I will disagree with Steele. I have soft seal on my doors and they were very hard. Took along time to get doors to close while they compressed over months/years. I went to Carlisle last spring and felt them all for the doors. The Metro was the softest of the three I believe. So I bought them for the doors. I would bet 67 would be the same.

Thanks - I read through Jason's trials and tribulations (sorry man!) and I came away with the feeling that nothing worked well for his car. Oh well - this really makes me want to replace my ratty weatherstrips!

I personally like the METRO. I had the same problem with the soffseal being too hard that I though I was going to break my windows trying to shut the doors. Maybe they will compress over time and fit tight? :Do No: But I bought Metro again for my current car.

You guys are getting me all fired up again!!!

Can you imagine if someone made actual authentic reproductions of the GM originals complete with the impregnated wire reinforcement? How much would you pay for a quality piece like that?

I consider the Soffseals to be replacement seals, not reproductions. Their fit is mediocre at best and they look nothing like the originals. My main gripe is the molded ends. The actual "run" from end to end is acceptible. That portion of it is good.

I cant believe someone hasnt stepped up yet. The door weatherstrips fit all 69-72 GM A bodies. Thats a huge application.

Bill- As far as your application, the sedan doors dont require the molded ends like the hardtops, so the Soffseals would probably be good to use in my opinion.

Thanks Jason - I was wondering where you were!!! :TU: Yeah, all I'm looking at is the door seals. The part number is specific for 4 DR wagons, so I'm hoping for the best! :puzzled:
