I had an incident where i had to do a panic stop. I came over a hill and traffic on the other side was at a dead stop. I stopped with plenty of room to spare, but then i started hearing a metal to metal grind whenever I applied my brakes. I thought my brake pads had disintegrated, which was weird because I'd switched to ceramic pads.

I get home and pull the right front wheel to find the top caliper bracket bolt had backed out and started rubbing on the inner rotor surface.

I removed the bolt, wire-brushed the threads and used red loctite and bent over both keeper tabs.

Just a head's up for everyone to double check their work. I bent over one tab when I put the brakes together, but it still backed out.

Great advise for us "shade tree mechanics" that don't do this stuff for a living!
