Our Lesabre is a 1985 with a 307 Olds V8 4 barrel carb all factory air poulation equipment is intact. with 87,000 miles on it.

I have knowen the car since it was 3 days old so know the oil was changed at a regular 3500 miles give or take 50 miles. it was well maintained by the former owner. It sat only being ran in the garage or drive way forabout 20 minutes max from 2009 to 2012 from then to 2016 it was never started and run. In August 2016 I bought it from the widow. Before I started it I jacked it up and changed the engine oil, then drove it to a shop that changed the trans oil.

But I am wondering if I start adding 10% Marvel Mystery oil to the oil when i change it and started adding 4 onces to the gas every time I fill up could cause damage to the car?
Keep in mind it still has the cat in the exhaust.

I know as a kid my dad used to pour a bit down the carb throut every so offten of his 56 Ford flat bed and Moms 47 Stud camander.
Claimed it kept th carb clean.

Have read it helps lube the intank fuel pump also in todays cars.

I don't see any reason to add Marvel Mystery oil to the engine oil. That car has a flat tappet cam so if anything, I would use an oil that contains zinc.

Mystery oil won't hurt anything, but It likely won't help anything either. Oil posts almost always draw a lot of comments. I posted a month or more ago that I had talked to shell about oil with zinc and Rotella still has plenty of it. There are other brands that do as well. Rotella is available in 10-W-30 and that's what I use in my Nailhead. Our local Wal-Mart stocks it.

The 307 Olds has a roller cam in it.
I've read it helps lub the intank fuel pump.
I use rotella in it also. buy to by thre 5 gallon pail since my diesel pick up uses it and the diesel cut tractor.

I thought they didn't use a roller cam until 1987, but I was wrong once before!:D

Seems to me you are trying to fix something that isn’t broken. MMO will get by the rings and get in the exhaust. It won’t do the catalytic converter any good. I say leave it alone. BTW, pretty sure that engine uses a mechanical fuel pump.

I have a recipt that came with the folder of repairs done to the car the previous owner kept. It says R&R Fuel pump at 36000 rounded off miles. I have not seen the normal fuel pump hanging off the engine any place either. Part of the start process in the owners manual says turn key on wait a few sesonds then push pedel to flor and let (closes choke on the carb) then turn the key to start. I assumed that ment a electric fuel pump in the tank.

"1985 307s received roller lifters for reduced friction." wikipedia

Any who just a question. and see most don't think much of thre idea.
    Engine when I got it.

X2. I believe it is upside down compared to a Buick fuel pump. The lines go in at the top. I believe it is on the passenger side. You can see it in this picture, it's between the heater hose and alternator belt.

You are correct Larry. AND, that's an Olds 455. Can tell by the little nub on the block ONLY 455 Olds had them. All the rest of the Olds blocks didn't.

OK the Olds 307 had a mechanical fuel pump,
But did the Buick Lesabre with the 307 have a Mechanical fuel pump. I'd go and look for it again with the picture for a referance, but It is under a couple covers now and a tarp till about April 15th or so.

Every Buick that I've owned with the Olds 307 installed had a mechanical fuel pump. All 8 of them.
