I have a 72 skylark, ditched the power steering and bought a manual box from Pearsonville. The box bolts in the stock location, but when I hooked everything up and turned the wheels right, the left control arm smacks into the crossmember. It seems too tight on the driver side. I called back Pearsonville and they said it was the right pitman arm, but it doesn't work soooo.....Help from anyone who's done this. Am I overlooking something?

The pitman arm is tapered so it can only go on one way. Good try! Any other ideas?

I do know on some of the Big Buicks the idle arm is differant for non power steering cars . Maybe the same for the A bodies . Worth a few phone calls .

    Good Luck :pp :TU:

The pitman arm is also different PS to non.
Supposedly it is now being re-poped.
    Good luck!

    Center links are the same.
Sounds like his pitman arm is the wrong length.

When I called Pearsonville, they said that there were only two, one for power steering and one for manual. They said they gave me the one for manual, but....it doesn't fit! Parts store confirmed only one center link for the car. If this is the wrong pitman arm, how do I find the right one?

I can tell you the 68-72 ps box pitman arm is 5.5" long. The F-bodies (Camaro/Firebird) pitman arms are 6" long. I don't have a manual box.
Local yard has a manual box in a 66 Impala. I can measure it on Sat when I am there to confirm correct length. Email me directly at GStage1@buickperformance.com
