Question, in JW's oil mod thread when it comes to the main bulkhead enlargement mod when I drill into the oil galley should the bit just poke into it by 1/4" or so as almost block half the tube when looking down from the front or do I need to carry all the way through to the other side of the galley tube?

I've never done it. My guess is you stop at the galley. If I was you, I'd just PM Jim and ask. He did author the thread, and he does it all the time.

I did write on the oil mod thread asking also. I know he's super busy so I was trying to source info from others that have done it rather than bugging him but it seems like the best solution to my question. This is my first time doing the mods also. I did stop once I seen the bit poking into the galley, just wasn't sure if I had to keep going until I hit the other "wall" of the galley? I'm trying to get everything done to get the block off to the machine shop.

Drilling the main bulkhead passages to 11/32" in the 2,3,4 mains through the cam tunnel into the oil galley. JW's thread said start with the 6" bit the switch to a 12" bit to get all the way through. I was able to get to the galley with just my 6" bit. There's about a 1/4" of the tip of the bit into the galley with the drill bottomed out on the mains. Is that far enough?

You aren't bugging him, I PM or E mail Jim all the time. He always gets back to me. This is what he does for a living, and that is what V8 is all about. Just PM or e mail him. I really don't know why you would go beyond the galley, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I think most have the machine shop handle this, which is why you aren't getting a timely answer.

I'll poke at him then:p. That's what I want to make sure that as long as the drill made it into the galley tube then I'm good. If you look down the galley you can see where the factory drilled down through into the galley from the mains and the tip of the bit "kissed" the other side of the tube, meaning they followed right through the galley tube with the holes.

Yeah, they were sloppy and didn't care. I'd avoid any damage at all to a smooth galley wall in the name of flow. Just a guess.

I just PM'd him. That was my thoughts too Larry why go any further than breaking into the tube, the hole isn't going to get any bigger by going to the other wall.

Just make sure that your all the way in the main galley... that's all... sounds like you are.
