Drown the muts The presa canario are vicious fighting dogs. They are the dogs that killed Diane Whipple in San Francisco. I went to high school with Diane and while we were never good friends we had many friends in common. Note: I am generally a dog lover and am exploring the idea of adopting a Lab Rescue dog (I already volunteer with the organization) that needs to have hip replacement surgery. I sympathize with you Greg. That was a horrible incident. Those specific dogs were trained to do what they did. Like pit bulls and others, they are more inclined to behave that way when trained to do so. But the truth is, even my 6 month old Black Lab could be trained to do the same thing, by someone that knew what they were doing. I wouldn't condemn any specific breed, but instead the losers that train them to kill indiscriminately.
Re: Re: Drown the muts Rob, She's right here. Lab rescue will pay $750 out of each $3k for a hip replacement. I hope to get them to pay $1500 for one with the hope she won't need another. The $1500 is the amount they'll pay for 2 FHOs which remove the top of the femur (ball of the ball and socket hip joint). After that her mobility will be further restricted and we couldn't keep her in a 2-story plus basement house. If we keep her she needs the hip replacement.
