I have an LT1/4L60e, and all accessories, from a wrecked 97 GMC Sierra 4x4 and I wanna put it in my Regal in place of 307 Olds/TH350 combo.

What all does this swap entail?

I guess I should start with my initial worries. I have already replaced the gas tank on my Regal a couple years ago, will I have to replace it again with a baffled, eletric fuel pump tank?
Will I be able to use the 4L60e trans in place of the TH350 that I currently have in my Regal. The truck was 4 wheel drive, will that matter? Will I have to modify the 4L60E?

The wrecked truck still has a plethora of parts that aren't destroyed like radiator, wiring harness, etc. What all would/should I pull off the wrecked truck?

Also, I do have a lot of work already in my 307 engine as far as parts and new component.... I wanna know the best route for me to keep 'em from being a total loss since I'm gonna scrap the 307 *I think it broke a rod or something, sounds horrible and has been sitting since 2006*.

Is the best thing for me to do sell my 307 Olds accessories on ebay or locally? Or keep 'em laying around for a rainy day?
Cash is short so I would really rather get something for them if, and only if, I'm certain I don't/won't have a use for 'em.

For example, before the engine broke I had recently replaced the A/C compressor... That was over $200 if I remember correctly. New Radiator, new starter, basically every accessory except the Alternator. I even had the power steering pump & power steering gearbox replaced w/ new.

1st off trucks didnt come with lts you have a vortec 350 or 305

it should be one already baffled efi tank

you will need a 2wd tail shaft and have to swap it and move the crossmember back and shorten the drive shaft

you will def need the wiring harness and ecm plus your ecm will need a tune i think to work. you cant use the truck rad in car

and i would ebay all of it i could but i would swap my accesories over the the 350

in short its a big expensive job and i would not even start to do with a vortec 350. if i was going to do a modern engine swap i would be hunting a lsx based engine from a 99up 2wd truck/suv,van, 98 up f body, g8, gto they would lend the most power best fuel economy etc....

you can pick up a 4.8 and 2wd 4l60e from a wreck truck for nothing and already be 30-40 hp over the vortec and 10-20 over even a lt1

but your cheapest option is getting carbed engine and 200 4r trans no electronics and would bolt right in you could convert that block over to carbed in that truck though if you wish slap a 200 4r behind it and go

The wrecked truck is mine... I wrecked it. So it's costing me next to nothing. I don't have the money to get an LS1, that's actually what I was looking for and why my Regal has been sitting for 3 years.

I need to take the engine out my wrecked truck to use. I don't wanna just let it go to a salvage yard knowing how much I put into it and how well I maintained it.

My Regal doesn't already have a baffled efi tank, and the tank on the truck is not gonna fit along with being damaged beyond repair.
Should I try to use the in-tank fuel pump from the truck?

What else should I take and try to save before I send it to the crusher?

Don't take this the wrong way but you should be looking for a different forum. Something for Chevies. You'll probably find more info there. Not too many people swapping in fuel injected Chevies into their Buicks here. Your Regal is basically a Monte Carlo with different sheetmetal so that is where I'd head for info.

I don't take that the wrong way at all, but....

It ain't a chevy! Its a GM, I think people tend to forget that GM owns chevy, and not that Chevy owns GM!

This engine was used in a plethora of applications.

Yet, I do understand your point. I know there are some die-hard Buick people on here and I respect that. I really love my Buick as well, I just can't afford a 455 build right now and I'd really like to keep/explore the FI advantages.

you will have to have the trans converted to two wheel drive. if you are not good with electrical you will have to find sum one to modidy both wiring harness to mesh into one . you will have to either find a gn fuel sending unit or use a Good external pump. As far as radiator you would have to play it by ear and see if it works. Also frame mounts will have to be installed. I dont know how handy you are but if you are trying to drop it in like it was in your truck you will have sum work on your hand and a few trips to the auto parts and hardware store. It wont be cheap but could be nice in the end
