One to NYC and other to Massachusetts....had tracking but no insurance so out of luck. Sadly getting to the point that have to get insurance all the time unless receiving party has camera or something.....

A camera doesn't help either, you just get a picture to look at, the Police don't care.

I saw on news where they use kids to run up and grab while parent waits in car......scum

I was lucky, one package was going to include a check for over 2K for money I owed my sister....figured I had tracking better than sending in letter...duh...right ....no help other than knowing if it got there or not....

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

In some areas, they are setting up sting operations to catch the bastards. It's getting to the point where the scumbags are multiplying faster than ever. Teaching bastard juniors that the only thing bad about stealing is getting caught. Kids are not afraid to resort to violence because the video games (like Grand Theft Auto) that they stole and watch with no 'parental guidance' is real life and its okay to act that way. They actually think they are entitled to that which you work hard for.

I'm lucky in that I have a note posted on my front door to put packages on my back patio. The UPS, FedEx, and USPS guys/gals all go through my gate and put the stuff back there for me where no one can see. I've been home a couple times when they drop packages off and I've thanked them for doing it, and they all say they're happy to.

My sister said her neighbor got a big plastic pool box with a combo lock and gave combo to carriers. A few weeks it was pried open and get this...they opened on the spot and took only what they wanted. It was actually on her local news.....

I have cameras so I know when a package is delivered and I guess I will know when one is stolen and what the thief looks like if I have one stolen. So far, the porch pirates have not hit our neighborhood.

Remember that USPS insurance is a waste of money unless you have paperwork (an invoice) that proves what you paid for the item that you sent. I don't know about other shippers.

USPS same...sold a 30yr old outboard computer to a guy in Canada and they wanted receipt for it....I bought a whole motor and parted it...no receipt! Claim denied....

Yep. I tried to tell a friend of mine this that was all excited about the hidden cameras he put up around his house. I told him he'd be better off having visible cameras as a deterrent, not hidden ones that take a picture after the fact. I know a few LEO's and they all said the same, if it's not a violent crime, videos of a thief swiping your Amazon box will get looked at once by them and likely forgotten just as quickly. It's just not high on their priority list on most places.

So, You tell the Thieves to go around back? Sorry, makes about as much sense as yelling "Stop Thief."
I Don't know When things got so Twisted that Cops can't/Won't do what they should/Could, & the Criminal aspect is given all the rights while the people that follow the Laws & Rules get Shafted.

My note with instructions is taped to my front door 24/7/365. Where I live at, nobody is going to just mozy into your back yard in the daylight. But if it's sitting out front, you could get a person driving by real quick. They'd have to check my back yard every single day and get lucky on the off chance I had a package delivered one day. If I leave it out front, they know it's there for sure as they can see it. Make sense?

You can ship stuff to a ups store or require a signature. That eliminates this issue.

Have it shipped to your place of employment.

Here I have a large plastic container for them to drop it into on house side of the fence. If some SOB wants to reach/climb over the dog will have something to say about it.
