I lost the clip that holds the throttle cable to the carb on 72 Q-jet GS

I don't know what you talking about. You have a male on the carb and a female on the cable, which is part of the cable. If the end of the cable is gone, you do not need the end,you need a new cable.Did you loose the one on the carb?.Bruno.

I think he is talking about the small metal (C-shaped) clip that goes on to the end of the throttle cable and holds the ball on the end of the carb arm.

I am sure I have 1 or 2 of them but have no idea where they are at this time. I always "harvest" them off broken cables.

    You want an original.
The several aftermarket (recently produced) are crap spring steel and lack good "memory".

Almost all of the spring steel stuff will bend and not maintain good tension.

From convertible boot clips, the throttle cable C clips and such.

I bought an older cable to get one for my '68 after the throttle cable broke.
(and like a maroon, I tossed the old assembly when I ordered the new one)

The C clip that came with the new cable assembly had no tension and popped off first time I drove the car.

    OK,
No luck on finding it at home. I think they are in my parts containers up at Nick's shop. I took everything up there when we started the assembly for the 69 car.

I can check up there if I go up this weekend.
How much of a hurry are you in?

No hurry at all. what year did it start and end for da clip cable. salvage yards up here crushed everything older than 2000 I think.
Will not need one till spring. Thanx

I don't know what years they were for. I know the Oldsmobile's used a different set-up, but think some Chevys used the clip too.

Recently I went thru my Buick parts and tossed out the broken or bad parts I had on the shelves. That's why I remembered the clip, because I just "harvested" it.

It holds the cable on the carb stud ball.
Now that i think about it, chevy does have them to.

I have seen them on Buicks with nailheads, 64's with 300/2bbl, and 68-69 Skylarks and many other mak and model cars, Jeeps etc.
