Thankfully the little boy lost in the North Carolina woods has been found alive, prayers answered. What kind of wild life or critters do they have in N.C.? The outcome might not have been as good had it been in Montana or some of the other northern states.

    1972Mach1 Just some M.M.O.G. guy.....

Just got done reading that too. Amazing news. Sounded like it was in a previously flooded area and still muddy and wet. Little 3 year old guy made it since Tuesday alone and they say he's mostly fine and asking to watch Netflix :D

I guess that is bad enough, but at least Coyotes and Black Bears avoid human scent unless they are curious!

Maybe coyotes out west do that, but I regularly pee out by a tree near the shop, and coyotes tracks go right by it, within 5 feet; and that is only about 35-40 feet from the shop. Granted, I almost never see them within about 1/8 mile during the day, but they howls in the pack around dusk nearby woods. Lots of their hunting grounds are in water thanks to last years hurricanes and MUCH more than normal rain...So they are getting brave. A few weeks ago I saw 15 deer (That's how many I counted, may be more!) in the field by the shop. Had heard the coyotes earlier that evening, and NEVER saw that many deer at once in my area; usually 3 to 5...
Just saying, but a 3 year old would not stand a chance, if they will herd deer looking for a victim.

Got Bobcats, wild boar, fox, some hunters say there are still large cats that roam around mountain lion, panther, whatever you wish to call it.

Never heard of Bobcat or fox bothering anyone unless rabid. Wild Boars tend to avoid you I bet. Wrong time of year to worry about venomous snakes. Danger from them is overrated. You pretty much have to step on one or pick it up to get bitten. His biggest risk same as anyone’s would be hypothermia. Not sure how he survived that. Thank God he wasn’t up here in New England.

Coyote populations are one species that can’t be controlled by hunting. They just keep coming back. It’s amazing. All the apex predators have been killed off so they have taken advantage of it.

Thankfully he had an angel watching over him.

Here outside of Alachua Florida I've seen coyotes, fox and deer that come for the grain left by the hoses and thier salt lick. I have seen a Florida Panther on my property once and my wife has seen it twice; it makes rounds so it doesn't stick around. One night I let the dog out for his evening business and he was going crazy outside so I went out to see what the comotion was about. Got to 30' from it before I realized what it was by flashlight (no more cheap little flashlights for me) in the dark, our goofy 30# dog tried to intimidate it but it just sat there and didn't budge. Fortunately, there was a 4' fence between us but it never came over and after few "come here" dog finally came back. Neighbors horse got it's face slashed though as they are curious and probably went over to sniff it. Nothing has ever messed with my horses but mine hate dogs and will chase them so coyotes stay clear.

    BUICKRAT Got any treats?

NH has a bounty on them, legal to bait them. Squirrels are their favorite food, so when they have a good year, so do the coyotes.

1st im glad the boy was found.

We have coyotes, you can hear them in the night and it seems like they roll in a pack.

We also have mointain lines who in the winter drop down from the mountains.

7E6A68B7-6D2B-4A67-827E-65A0185EA998.jpeg I will take all your coyotes and mountain lions to take care of my deer and squirrels that eat the fruit on my trees. The coyotes help themselves to apples that hit the ground. I can live with that. This guy was having a feast. He ran off when he saw me but came right back and grabbed another then ran. Picture is fuzzy because of window screen.
