Hey don't you hate when someone comes up to you or on the net and says, "hey I would _______________ <-------(some dumb ugly random change) if that was my car.

Man those guys get on my nerves and it seems there's many out there.

Cosmetically, the car is now complete. They're much better than they look in the poor lighting.

Drilling the holes had to be somewhat scary. Looks great Brett!

    Thanks!!

I didn't love it, let's just say that. Haha

Oddly, the factory screws for the mount were on the passenger side. I ordered a pair from Todd Miller but ended up ahead of the game.

Had someone not put one on the RH, I'd have saved myself a kidney and gone with just one.

    Thank you!

It's been cool "bringing it back" to how it would have looked around the time it was new.

I have to admit - I had a pretty good canvas to begin with. :D

The mirrors really accent the car's exterior. I'm glad I bit the bullet.

What were the mirrors that were on it? Did it originally come from the factory with two mirrors?

No - just the driver's side originally but someone put a pair of "bullet" mirrors on it back in the late 70's, which were subsequently swapped out for a pair of plastic "chrome" aftermarket ones.

Had there only been one on it now, I wouldn't have bothered with the RH one but I couldn't see driving around with two holes in my door.

Well you made the right choice. The originals are much better looking.

Brett, is your car a factory dog dish car? I love that look. For as few options as mine has, it came with WGs. I have s nice set of the WD steel wheels and poverty caps going on it in the spring.

    It is.

I didn't realize it until I was at a show last summer and saw two other 70's with window stickers.

One had the chrome rally wheels and the other sticker had 15 x 7 sport wheels, which were the steelies with trim rings. My deductive reasoning surmised that mine came with the hubcaps (and Wide Ovals), as my sticker reads: "Wide Oval White Billboard Lettered Tires G - 70 - 14"

No mention of any wheel type meant the car came with hubcaps.

Since receiving the car last year, it has had following repairs and upgrades:

    Added factory rear sway bar
    Replaced air shocks
    TA modified timing cover (ouch)
    Timing chain and gear
    B4B
    RH header gasket
    Pertronix ignition
Lectric Limited water temp sending unit
    Oil pressure sending unit (NAPA)
    Lectric Limited battery cables
    CARS battery cable retainers
    Reproduction heater hose bracket
    Repro clear overflow lid
    OEM overflow tank
    CARS repro radiator cap
    Harrison radiator cleaned and tested
    Correct OEM shifter ball
Factory Tri Shield side view mirrors (ouch, again)
    Rebuilt Holley 650
    Factory floor mats
Steel wheels and dog dish caps
    All new hoses and belts
    New water pump
    OEM fan shroud hook
    New master cylinder
    Stage 1 fuel pump
    New coil
    Factory alternator bracket
    Numerous fasteners from @ToddsGS

Next will be rear control arm bushings and front shocks & springs, as well as an old 750 Holley a friend rebuilt over 25 years ago that was the "community" Holley back in the day.

It was legit on over a half dozen cars before ending up on my old 72 Stage 1 that I sold to a board member in 1999. That'll get a rebuild and should definitely give the car a little pep.

The mean, badass black look must have inspired the Grand National when Buick came up with that. That car was also nicknamed “Vader.” The mirrors are unique and hard to find, especially the passenger side. You made a nice car even nicer by adding them on. I assume they are not remote units although they look like them. The remote units are a pain if they need to be rechromed since the spring, wires and hardware have to be removed first. (Good luck reattaching them later!) Also I had to recondition the rubber gasket since I could not find repos for mine. Did your mirrors come with the gaskets? Those dog dish pans set your stand out from the rest of us with the rally rims. (Although the rally’s are gteat looking too.) They must be rare and expensive! Did the previous owner provide them with the car? Niceties like emblems on the mirrors and hubcaps or center caps show our cars are “fast with class!”

    Thank you! I'm trying. Haha

The mirrors are manual, which I'm happy about and made the install much easier. The gaskets and mounts both came with the mirrors and I had to hunt one down. I'm also happy the RH gasket covered the holes from the previous mirror.

I bought the dog dish caps around the time I bought the car, as I knew I was going with that look. The steelies are junkyard finds that I had sandblasted and painted.

Someone really needs to repro those gaskets, though.
