That’s so cool that you found the prior owner, they still had pictures, and they sent them to you. I’d love to have that history on my car.
More Day 2 pictures. I think I see an 8 track player and something covering the edges of the gauge cluster, as well as the consolette. View attachment 419928 View attachment 419929 View attachment 419930 View attachment 419931 View attachment 419932 View attachment 419933
I was thinking the same thing. Haha! Someday - when I'm not in a townhouse and actually have my own garage - I'll have room for all the cool, extra accessories.
That's awesome that you got those photos Brett. Don't mess with the car leave it alone I know it's hard but leave it.. Find a Skylark and play around with it.
I'm of the opinion that at the very least, the car deserves a motor that emulates what originally came in it. My budget will determine how that comes to be but it's definitely on the list.
By the time he'd got the car, the original steelies/dog dishes were gone. I'm pretty sure he kept it like this for the 2 years he owned it. Below is correspondence from last night after I got the pictures in the mail. This is why I love this hobby. Me: "These are great! Do I see an 8 track player under that dash? How much were you selling it for?" Keith: "I paid $3,500 but I don't remember what I wanted to sell it for. I came across a 1972 Chevy impala with extremely low mileage that Joe Miller had on his lot. It was a 400 ci small block 2 door coupe with dual exhaust at. ps. pb. ac. pw. even had fender skirts and I am sure I paid out some money to get it. As for the tach - that was there when I got it. It wasn't needed but I thought it looked neat and it's a shame the 8 track is missing. That was original and it worked! I had some 8 tracks, like most people back then. You know this has been really fun for me - to be able to talk to you about this car. It really brings back some great memories of the fun I had on Friday and Saturday nights cruising "The Loop", as we called it in Lebanon. I think of some of the cars my friends had - all mostly in their original condition - and collectively they would be worth a fortune! It even has me looking again. I don't know if I'll ever own one again but it would have to be a 1970 Stage 1 4-speed."
It's cool you have been able to get the history and pictures of your car. And like him, I miss some of the cars I once owned.
