"GM officials and news reports said late last year that GM killed the Buick Bengal concept due to potential production problems and escalating cost estimates. But company officials have said recently that GM has revived the Bengal..." http://www.auto.com/industry/iwirc10_20021210.htm Woo Hoo! - Freed
COOL!!! I always though that the Bengal was a good looking concept car! It was a shame to hear that they wanted to give it the axe before it got off the ground. Just hope they can speed things up...in more ways than one!
Bengal Requirements I want RWD Small V8 (ala Ford Thunderbird) Excellent handling Quality construction (NO CHEAP INTERIORS) Decent Pricing And I'll put one in the garage! Alan
Re: Bengal Requirements I'd add: - Weighs under 3200lbs - Comes in a 2-door with a manual transmission - Doesn't look like ass (or a mustang) - I'll settle for a tunable V6 with forced induction, and I'd love AWD Other than that, I agree completely. Now that I look at it, I think we've described a Corvette, aside from the "decent pricing". ou: If I had a spare $49k sitting around, I'd have to pay off a chunk of my mortgage, I just couldn't stick it into a Z06. - Freed
I don't know how many of you had the chance to actually RIDE in the Blackhawk, but when I rode around at the GS Nats in the back seat - I couldn't help but notice, that there was probably less room in the back than an F-body!! Not only that, as cool as it was to have the top go up and down while we were riding (slow speeds) - the top is definitely SHOW ONLY!! It's made of carbon fiber and is very thin - not to mention, the fit and finish would never fly on a production vehicle. The other glaring 'problem', as Mike (TA) can attest to  - the top of the windshield is EASY to whack your head on, when you hop in the driver's/passenger's seat!!! OUCH!!!:blast: They would definitely have to do some 'tweaking' in those areas! Other than that - what a SWEET car!!!:TU: They might be better off losing the back seats, putting on a top like what is on the SSR conv. truck (which is already a go), and gaining full use of the trunk! Let's face it...this thing is a 'play toy', not a family car. It's already quite long as it is - the only way to get any more headroom and legroom, would be to lenghten it even more!
