On the 1407 with auto choke has 110 jets in the secondary side. The manual choke has 113 jets on the secondary side. I am pretty sure the primary side metering rods & jets are the same between the two or if different the primary metering rods are THICKER on the electric choke model. I would have to find my manual to be sure on the primary side.
Thanks all of you for the advice so far. :TU: Going on what BigPig says -- the Edelbrock will bolt straight up to the stock manifold without use of adaptor ? I found this adaptor in my parts storage but looks like it's for the larger Holley 750. And one more question please ---- with the Edelbrock, are we blocking off the two heat holes or not ? o No:
Just a metal gasket, and then a regular gasket on top.. The nailhead is all ready runing cool, so if you take the heat out the carb, it maybe will be hurting the gas and air mixture.. ( Can't spell the correct word ) wayperaise
If you go with the Edelbrock, which will be the square bore intake, you should not need an adapter. You will need a standard gasket kit with the metal gasket to go between the intake and the composite gasket. You don't have to block off the heat holes, but many guys do. Just so its clear, you are plugging the two holes in the top of the intake at the heat crossover to keep the heat out of the carb. DO NOT block off the heat passages that go from the head into the intake. You want heat in the intake for a street car.
