Had a Stage 1 car years ago and ended up having to let it go as a trade in to "Friendly Motors" (Joe Self Used Cars) in Wichita Kansas in summer 1989. I am NOT in a position to buy it back but do have some memories and basic background that I can share if anyone here owns the car. The folks that got the car after me were either managers or at min employed at the used lot for Joe Self. I didn't get the impression they bled Buick blood so it may have bee sold since then. Their plan was to paint the car CANDY APPLE RED. Not sure if they did. It is originally a white bench car. Sticker on bumper was Bakersfield AFB if I recall. I want to say the car was originally sold new in Wichita Kansas in May 1970 (BEN ROBINSON BUICK INC ??) but not sure why I have that memory - hopefully not a false one. It was NOT a Stage engine when I got it but I did convert the heads to large valve. 446370H343188 (I have one of the older Kansas titles with KS Dep Rev 1987 envelope)
Wish everyone was as thoughtful as you! With all the flippers just trying to making a dime in the collector car market, good info from caring owners falls by the wayside. Great post BTW! Kudos.
Really hoping it turns up by a Buick enthusiast... I have a few more pics if that happens. I know who I got it from and who had it before them. The selfish side says I just want to know it survives and doing well. Thanks for the kind words. I'm not so keen on visiting with the folks that had the car immediately after me. They were pretty rude. Maybe time has mellowed them out some o No:
Have you contacted Wayne Roberts or Sloan with the VIN to see if they have had a request for information on the car?
contact Marco at stage1registry.com and see if he has it listed ... he doesn't list the last 6 vin digits on his info pages for privacy reasons but does have that info
This would be great as a separate page on this board where anyone could post about old GS's they've owned.
KANSAS TITLE Title Issue Date 08/21/1990 Odometer 34,249 M Not in the registry. All indications, it hasn't changed hands since 1990. Likely still have it UNLESS flipped during the gap of time shown. "They"? Yeah, not exactly sure who that is. lol
GO to BeenVerified.com Dashboard - BeenVerified For $1.00 you can search VIN numbers for a week. Tells you what dates the car was sold and in what State, vehicle mileage and current or last sale date. This is what I found on my 70 GS 455. Originally the my Buick was purchased in Texas in 1970 and owned my the same family for 39 years and Restored in 2010. I'm the current owner that purchased the Buick in July 24, 2021 in Virginia. Try BeenVerified you might get the answer you're looking for. Good luck. I ran your VIN# through BeenVerified, shows this is current information. Title 1 Source: NMVTIS Title issue date State Status Mileage (M) VIN 08/21/1990 KS Current 34,249 446370H343188 Would be very interesting to know if the buyer still has your former Buick. Sometimes you can call the KS Motor Vehicle Department and they may have information on your Buick. I did this to a car I was searching for in Washington state, unfortunately, Washington State dropped this information after so many years. Maybe you will get lucky. VET (Navy)
Sorry, in my effort to be less wordy, I left out the source. It was NMVTIS data via "checkthatvin.com" which was one of the listed choices on the Kansas DMV portal. More detail is not available unless I'm an investigator or some other legit reason... because the next step actually gives owner detail.
