Here is my Concourse GSX engine during the restoration. It involves a lot of research. I believe it to be all correct. IMG_1758.JPG

The one car has tower clamps on the bypass hose . Your car has the green squeeze clamps on the bypass.

They should have either the green squeeze clamps or black.

    No tower/worm clamps.

1970 car to be sold in California. You can just about see the 70 only charcoal canister tucked in the core support if you follow the hose.

One question for you Dave. Did you replace the driverside front fender?:cool::cool:

And just that thing cost me a best of show with a perfect 400 point score in 1999 BCA national meet when the nice young lady judge took off 5 POINTS BECAUSE MY CAR HAD THE "WRONG" WASHER JUG. NO IT DOESN'T!!! (but my husbands car doesn't look like that so your's must be wrong.) I have a 49 state car and not a California emissions car that got the 1971 & up style washer jug.

Man I was pissed. Still am today (can you tell?). And that's the reason I will not have my car "judged" anymore. I don't need anybody to tell me what is correct and what isn't...I already know what's right and wrong with mine. Humph...

    Frank,
I was sure you knew the answer.

Just to add to Brad's story. At that particular event the BCA had me judging the 64-67 Skylarks/GS's and not the 68-72 cars.

Yes Duane, I knew about that. I kind of feel like Brad, I'm not too keen to have my car judged. I know some stuff, my car's not perfect. I know there's detail things on my car you can't even see that 95% of the people don't even know about. Like the metal vac T under the air cleaner, a "Best Way" air filter, an embossed, oil soaked, stapled FB59 breather, a script dist cap, the black plastic trash bag deal for the 'vert boot, lots of stuff like that. But you don't get bonus points for that stuff. You know...it's kind of a curse to know a lot of stuff! So, I'm 65 and still learning. Everybody knows seat belts have dates. You find out that the headrest posts have dates, you look...sure enough they have been changed. Wrong date! Meh...everybody has to draw the line someplace. But it's always interesting to learn new things, particularly oddities, things you can't explain easily. We all have our own level of restoration. $ is a big factor, it's just so easy to sink big $ into these cars. That's why when I see a car like Rick's it's cool. It's nice to see a survivor car with mostly all it's detail intact! You are off the hook for Brad's car, Duane.

    I hear you there brother.

I draw the line on things that can be seen, that's how we judge the cars, and why we don't look at any date coded parts. That is more of an owners thing. As long as it's period/time correct we could care less what Dates are on the parts.

Like Brad, I have no interest in having the 69 Motion car judged, if you want to look at it that's fine, I will be glad to display it. I pretty much know what is correct or not, and know the level I want to make the car, and the funds I have to get it there. Sometimes those two parameters have a tendency to fight against each other, imagine that. Like everyone else I do the best I can.

The reason I brought up Dave's fenders is it doesn't take any money to make them look like 70 fenders, just a small amount of time, and trust me he built an absolutely beautiful car.

Thanks for letting me off the hook for Brad's car, but it doesn't help.
I am still pissed that I was not allowed to be there to do something about it. Believe me, if I was there I would have fought that tooth and nail, and possibly to the point of getting kicked out if necessary..............and yes I have done that before. Almost got kicked out of the GS Nationals one year over judging.

Are those red stripe tires correct sir????

    Brad,
Yeah, well that was another episode, I didn't almost get kicked out for that one, although I did get to fight with Richard twice. When he came back the second time I floored everybody. It was short and sweet.
I might be a little guy but I do have a way of making my presence known.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program. Sorry about straying a bit.

Yes and why wouldn’t it be? The intake bolts were torqued at the engine plant so the bracket would have to be on first? Then assembly was painted right? Notice oil filter is painted red too.

Duane lives in Pawpaw country. He can pick wild ones if he knows where the grow. It is lost knowledge. I know you knew Frank. You combed over my cars many times,
