Hi all got another oddball question. I got a speed alert speedometer in excellent shape but required some cleaning to get the limit needle contact and the hair thin wire under the main needle to make a good contact. As I worked on the hair thin wire I started to suspect someone may have attempted to do something with it and may have uncoiled it a little or changed how it was bent to make contact. Anyone with one that is unmolested can you snap a pic of what the wire is supposed to looks like under the needle so I can see position length and bend of this little hair thin wire. It's just too thin to be messing with too much and I'm afraid I'll break it so I wanna do it right in as few moves as possible!

  2. Are you still looking? I have a 63 Wildcat with that speedo.

Sure if you wouldnt mind. I still not entirely sure how a factory speedo needle would react. Is the needle supposed to stop moving because its touching the wire or should a length of wire and some of the wire coil loose and the needle keep moving (though the drag would affect the accuracy). Or should it be a bit of wire that touches to make a quick sound and the needle move oast freeing itsself from the contact? A picture is worth a thousand words!

  4. The needle stops moving when it contacts the alert needle. What kind of pictures do you want? Mine is still in the dash but I'm in the process of stripping the whole car down to restore it.

Nothing terribly complicated, you can do it with everything still in with the right angle I imagine. I was just looking for a picture that showed the length and shape of the contact wire in relation to the needle. With that I could quickly deduce what they intended the functionality to be like as I was stating above.
