Hi, My 1970 Buick GS has what appears to be about 16 inch armrest bases. When I look at what is online they are always smaller versions. I even looked at legendary and they were smaller. Does anyone make a reproduction of the longer ones? Or maybe I am missing something? Mine are cracked and I would like to get new ones if possible. Thanks. Steve
Cars Buick parts in New Jersey sells repros. I think there website is oldbuickparts.com good luck. Tim
For the molded(hard plastic) parts, I haven't seen anyone making them. I have been able to pick up a set of originals here that were in decent shape. Pads are being repopped, at least in black: https://www.thepartsplaceinc.com/pr...al-gn-br-arm-rest-pads-16-black-only-pr/18956
My bad I thought you needed the chrome plates that go against the door panel. Check out impalas.com I think they use the long armrest on the 68 -70 2 door.
Thanks, they do have arm rests. It looks like they have them in black. I need pearl white though. Any other options? Were the 16 inch versions only a couple of years or a specific option for a year?
Buy the black and dye them pearl white. It’s really the best option. Original white bases were terrible to deteriorate.
You can also search under some late-60’s Impala/Caprice. Some of those had that same optional longer arm rest. There are new pads available in colors, and they fit pretty good, but not exactly like the originals. The cores are also made out of some type of plastic/fiberglass,instead of metal.
I also found the repros on autoobsession.com for some bucks less compared to impalas.com: http://www.autoobsession.com/armrestbasesfront1968-70impala2-door.aspx Given the cost of the die cast tool I would assume there is only one manufacturer for those parts.
I stand corrected, they are reproducing the bases. However, I think that they are only in black looking here. https://www.classicindustries.com/s...ds/door-panels-components/armrests/?&p=1&r=60 OER is owned by Classic Industries. I think most of the colors are the shorter bases(that would fit my Firebirds) and not the 16" versions but I could be wrong. I did look through several of them and none mentioned length at all.
