Does a '70 Riv' have a long or short tail shaft tranny?

    Thanks

Short tail, but uses the smaller diameter housing and driveshaft yoke.

    Thanks,

I'm driving an hour and 1/2 to get the 455 out of the Riv and wanted to know if I should have them pull the trans with it.
I guess I will as I just need something to run untill I can afford the 200 r-4.

I'm still new to buicks. What will I need to do to use the Riv trans in my skylark that had a powerglide in it?

my buddy custom builds 700r4 trannies with BOP cases so that you can take that old chevy overdrive and put it into a buick. It is pricey but I'm thinking of doing it with my skylark. In case you are thinking that it can never be done, he cuts the top section off of the 700r4 and another off of say a BOP th350/th400 and welds the BOP top to the 700r4...BAM! BOP 700r4.
