I'm glad you did'nt step on him barefooted. That would have for sure ruint your weekend. I read in some of the posts and get the idea the track people were not very cordial with your group. This upsets me as Rusk is my home track now. I know if Ken and Molly were still there this would not of happened.
Hey Metlman. I had a good talk with molly and she actually appoligized for the treatment we got at the track. What makes it real nice is that molly no longer has any affiliation with that track. Molly and Ken seem like good people. As for the present owner - Well I am sure you get my drift. I will say they have a nice little track there and the drive down 84 is beautiful. But thats All the positive things I can say about the track. But I do not think I will ever attend that track again at least under the present management. :beer
But I did recommend a good track, didn't I??? o No: The management just turned crappy though. :ball: I done good, didn't I? ou: Just kidding...
I am from White Oak, TX. A small town between Longview and Gladewater. I was looking forward to going and meeting some of the Olds guys that were also going untill the bad weather. Also like Buicks and would have enjoyed watching you'all also. Keith
Nice to meet you Keith! :beer The Olds guys chickened out. Guess they were afraid of getting wet. East Texas is my second home so that's why I was wondering if you were at the races or not. Maybe next time. :TU:
I just like to say I enjoyed myself even with the bad weather. Meeting up with our buick minded friends is always fun. The blue stage1 was off alot with the 3500ft air we had. I think everyone noticed the losses. We still managed some 11.70s which is a good .5 off regular times for the stage2 motor. I was really happy to see Shawn's 496cui GN make it down the track with both seats in place. :TU: That's a 10sec car is Houston! This little event of ours could really turn into something if we could find us a regular track that could attract out of state members. I kind of like that track and facilities. The drive is nice and the track hooks! The management is typical NHRA. They waiting on rain all day just to call it. We finally just pulled into the staging lanes to force the issue. Lets face it though, any track would have called it after that heavy rain. Can't wait till next year!
David we may have a perminent track (tenativly). The fastest car so far on their track is a 4.90 8th mile. But the track is open to the full 1/4. More info to come. This may cause our event to evolve a little :TU: Soon as I get the full details I will let everyone know. It will be obvious. :TU: Thanks James for the hint! :beer
Whoa hoa!!! You're suppose to tell me first! :af: Remember, I'm special! :Smarty: How fast are jet dragsters? uzzled: Make the event big enough to get some of the NE boys to come down. I really need some single good lookin' Buick guys to look at! ou: Sorry, I'll tone down the hormones....
I do not remember how fast they went, but DO NOT bother going to the track to race if there are jet dragsters running. Our local track broght a couple in for exhibition races on one of our street stock nights. Didn't help the spectator turnout at all (which is what they were hoping for.) The jets leave tons of unburned kerosene on the starting line, which totally ruins traction of cars that are actually powered by their wheels.
Salem 2005. Jet Cars ran the weekend before, and track was STILL TRASH for the BPG Event Dispite 90* weather all week. I doubt a good rain would clear it fast enough. JR
Pictures Did anyone have a chance to take any pictures before the rain started? I saw Geoff Newton taking some video, but that was about it.
Post-Bash update After the slightly disappionting initial outing in Rusk in the new 68 convert, I have good news to report from the home track. Best ET of 13.71 at 100.22!!! Yippee!!! 60ft was only 2.03--that thing needs a converter, but then I'd be knocking on the roll bar rule.... :eek2:
EXCELLENT!!!! :beer :beer :beer :beer Guess we're getting everything worked out before the racing season is over. ou: :TU: Can't wait until next year. :3gears: :3gears: :3gears: Are you going to Noble this weekend? Check this out.... :TU: I'm just a "little" excited! http://www.bpgforums.com/showthread.php?t=3868
Thanks for posting picks....still miss the car tho..glad to see it in action again...car NEVER went that fast with me behind the wheel.....i guess with me @ 230lbs it couldnt run 13;70's.....great stuff Nick..congrats!
I know Robin went 13.7X. Do you know what the "x" was? Is this the car's best time ever? :Brow: :3gears:
Nick i am pretty sure Robin took the car to a 13:68.....she might remember...i have forgotten.....but she was not wearing long pants or shoes.....unfair advantage. and the seat was so far forward when i got in...i hurt my self...bad.
