    HI all

I have noticed that all the external lights on my GSX flicker very slightly while on.

I have checked the two headlight grounds and the two taillight grounds and all are good. Are there any other light grounds that I should check, or could the culprit be the dimmer switch or headlight switch?

I don't yet have my copy of the service manual with the wiring diagram, so that is why I am asking here.

    Thanks
    Randy

How good is your alternator & voltage regulator?

It could be very well the light switch since all your lights flicker.

first step like Gerry suggests is to check voltage regulator and alternator. IF you have a voltmeter you can check output voltage of your alternator. or check another light like the interior lights like dome or pillar lighting...do they flicker as well?

otherwise check input and output on the light switch. try to engage disengage the switch multiple times and check again. if it gets better the switch may be the faulty part

It may in fact be the light switch. I cycled the switch on and off numerous times and sometimes the lights would flicker and sometimes not.

Regardless, I will check with a voltmeter on the weekend, after I borrow one from a buddy.

    Thanks

No idea Gerry, but I will be checking on the weekend.

If they only flicker with the car running, it's probably alternator or regulator. If they also flicker without the car running, it could possibly be the switch.

I vote switch. As @1973gs noted, try without the car running. Rock the car or give the dash a little bump, I bet they all flicker a bit. I had the same experience. No need to buy a new switch, just take the old one out (do some yoga in preparation) and take it apart. It's just a tiny bit dirty so you are losing contact. Use some contact cleaner, a tiny bit of ox-gard and some di-electric grease. Good for another 50 years. Here's the video I found on YouTube that stepped me through it.

They flicker when the car is not running as well. Leads me to think it may be the switch.
