I looked at my title today and the empty weight is 3471 lbs.
Being a Stage 1, I thought it would be heavier.
Do these cars weigh in at this amount or are they heavier?

That was the car's "dry" weight. Add oil, tranny fluid, water in the radiator, differential fluid, grease everything, some gas, blah, blah, blah, and you'll add 300 pounds or so the car.

Thanks Phillip, I never would have considered those factors.

Also, options add a lot of weight...the weight you have there is the base model empty of fluids...my 71 sits at 3900 with full load and me out.

BTW, is your 72 orange?? Any pics??

    Tim,
My car is orange with a black vinyl top. It has green fenders right
now and needs body work. I will post some pictures as soon as I get a decent camera.
It was ordered with only power disc brakes, no a/c or anything else. It seems like the original buyer bought for "go" and nothing else.

I have a 72 GS 455 as well, no options except the 455, variable ratio P/S'ing, front discs (which came with the 455 package), rallye ride and posi.....too bad its so rusty, most likely just get parted out..needs pretty much every panel on the car. #'s matching too.

Is the CENTRAL AIR (c/a) in your car piped into your house or a stand alone unit for the car?

My car is very solid with a little rust behind the rear wheels, rear window and on the cowl panel right below the windshield. There is a dent in the driver side door but all else is good.
It only has 70k miles on it and the interior is mint with exception to carpet and dash pad.
All #'s match too. The only other option I wish it had is the rallye ride and handling.

I'll borrow a camera and post some tomorrow.
It does have the front sway bar.
It also has crossmember reinforcement bars. Year One says these were dealer add ons - is this true?

Gee, my Riv GS's 4400lbs or so don't seem so bad a price for all that extra beautiful body and the landing deck up front.

Just 40% more weight than the average 'large' Australian car. :TU:
