    Hey Jeff,

I will try to be there also, be there around 10:30am.

I was with Larry today, he was at my house with his 70 Skylark, man is that car QUICK. He told me that he will be there and he plans on racing Buick.

EXCELLENT!!!! Save a couple of spots guys! C-ya there around 9:30ish.

I'm a newbie at sanctioned racing. So, do I pay a race fee? Or is the gate fee enough to cover it? Do I tell the gate guards I'm racing and they'll let me through into the pits? What gates do I use? The main ones? When do we go through tech?

Can someone give me a blow-by-blow of what to expect so I'm not lost and looking like a total dork?

    Thanks!

Just when you get to the gate tell them you there for the rain-out date on the Buick Performance Weekend. You are going to run in the Bracket Class with the Buicks. Once your in floow all the way around the track and head straight towards the back along side the fence (one your left side) there is a small booth and most likely a line to wait in. THis is the tech area. Fill out your race card and again tell the tech guy your running in the bracket class with the Buicks. He'll make sure everything is OK with the car and gives you a number assigned to the car. Thats it pal then go and find a good pit parking spot with the rest of the Buick guys.

    See ya there

Meeting near the pumps is a great idea Yardley :TU: . I'm hopeing to get my Buick all tuned up and ready to go with 100 + octane gas. I gave Ray a ride in my Skylark on Satuday...needless to say he was extremely impress on how the car runs as oppsed to how it looks  . Its a real sleeper car :Brow: ...the one thing he was really impressed was how responsive the carb was...when you hit it, its there with no hesitation, and he also liked my trick trans when it downshifted :Brow: (it downshifts in a weird way..the moter revs up first then downshifts...sorta cushins the RPM's like a manual trans would) Well anyway plugs, hd points, cap and rotor are waiting to go on Saturday this week.. and time everthing in. I'm looking for high 13's to mid 14's with this car.

I need some help....I don't have a posi, but I do have DOT slicks...I need some input...do I race with radials cause its so cold, or do I put on the DOT slicks and see how things go :Do No: Please help me out on my decision:)

JUST SAVE ME A SPOT !!!! :TU:

Glad to hear the Riv is comming Jeff...you must have put in a couple of sleepless nights working to get it ready to race...congrats

I also forgot to mention is that its a worked 350 that looks all original between the fenders red paint and all, I'll show it off on Sunday  esp. the 12 bolt rear from the factory. You will see and go :eek2: and :jd:

Still working on it. Last night it refused to heat up. Engine got warm, but I could pop open the radiator cap with no issues. The gauge stayed on zero. I swapped the temp gauge but haven't fired it yet. I'm replacing the thermostat and rad cap while I'm at it.

I dicked with the balance weights on the harmonic balancer, and the engine seems smoother than it was, but the vibration at speed is unbearable. Really not even drivable. I'm going to mess with balancing the driveshaft per the shop manual's directions using radiator hose clamps, and hopefully I'll get it to the point of livable. This is the new shaft that I had built. These things are notorious for driveshaft vibration.

I wish you all the best of luck Jeff :TU: Cant wait to meet everone again..esp. this time I will be with Buick  The way things are going for my Skylark I cant wait till the next picnic get together. Hope to see you at E-town Jeff, the last time I ran this car it ran 14.9 and that was about 5 or 6 years ago with lots of problems. I plan on being prepared this time :Brow: .

Should I use slicks or should I run the radials? :Do No: decisons....decisions. :(

In my opinion, if you've got slicks, run 'em!

Thanks Yardley....I'll drive down with radials then switch em when I get to the track.....I just need someone to watch my stuff, think I should carry a :blast: as insurance  . I will think about it alot, I may just drive it down that way, less to worry about :TU:

Can someone bring a LOOOOOONG length of chain and a padlock? We can string all our stuff together and lock it to the fence while we're racin'.

    OLDS442GM Going Fast With Class!

YEA PLEASE :( :( :( ....or maybe we could just tie our stuff on a small block chevy ....I've heard they make great boat anchors   ... but seriously....some chain and a lock would be greatly appreciated :TU:

Chances are I will bolt on the DOT slicks on it Saturday when I get things tuned up....It all depends on the weather situation...if its too cold the slicks wont stick.....I think I'd be better off with the radials, at least they will grab on the blacktop. Hey if Marco can race with polyglass, I can race with radials

I will be unable to attend Englishtown this weekend. My wife has to work long and crazy hours both Saturday and Sunday.

Since I'm not going to be changing diapers at the track (son is 18 months), I cannot make it :ball:

    Have a great time everyone!

On the upside, here's what I have to look forward to this weekend -

No problem Marco after doing the "stay at home Dad" thing I can change a diaper faster than most cars can run the 1/4 mile. Seriously if you want to come I'd be more than happy to help with the "Daddy chores". My youngest is now 9 and if I touch his boxers he'll hit me with a spinning side kick.:eek2:

Thanks for all the offers, but I need to adapt to his schedule this weekend.

At 18 months, I think he's too young for the dragstrip (and for car shows for that matter). He's scared of the vacuum cleaner and the hair dryer. I can only imagine how he'll react to the 9 second (and quicker :Brow: ) passes

    Maybe next time.
