Ive heard it so many different ways. 1.La - saber. Like saber tooth 2.La-sob-ray 3.La-sob. Like sob story. Whats the correct way to say it. Im the dummy who doesent even know how to pronounce his own car. I dont want to be that guy. And I'm tired of saying example 1 or 2 and getting corrected by the other. Thanks.
#1 ...kind of. First syllable is Leh, not an A sound. But if you're French, it's Leh-sobruh ...similar to your #3 but a short R sound at the end of the word. The R is almost unintelligible----- https://www.howtopronounce.com/french/sabre/
It is a French word. The correct answer depends on the language referenced. From taking French 55 years ago, I would say use with two syllables. (La-sabre) In English, it would be three syllables. (La-sa-ber)
Hey Ronnie.. Its Le Sabre (Le SABER) for us English speaking Americans ... French for "The Sword". With a French accent, it would be Le SAHBre. En Espanol, La Espada. In the link below, use the little speaker icon to play the pronunciation. ws https://translate.google.com/#view=home&op=translate&sl=fr&tl=en&text=Le Sabre
I guess I've always said it kinda like the Yachtsman, but maybe with LE rather than La... ......Leh...SAY.... burr Or just BOAT Philip T.
If it keeps letting you down, its a La-sob. If it's hopped up, its a Le-Saber. If you repeatedly take it to the opera, you tell the valet it's a La-saw bray, and you must roll the r when saying it.
In my lazy North American Montanan/Canadian accent, its la-saber. It's easiest to say it that way, although I'm sure it's incorrect. Kind of like my buddy's Pontiac is a la-mons, not a la-moh like is correct for Frenchies.
Looks like I"ll be asking for gray poupon at the stop light while driving off with an extension on my cigarette. After I turm up the Bach of course. Thanks and good morning to everyone. I did a 16 hour shift so I got today off. Have a good superbowl weekend. Ill be in Brussels cracking mussels, just playing!!!
...everyone must be hunkered down at home this morning... We Americans are really good at arrogantly murdering foreign pronunciations...but, lest we forget, LeSabre the car was an American creation...so we can murder it any way we want...
I say Le Sarb (like Barb wire)...but I'm Australian. I have heard Buick folk pronounce it Le Say Burr
This probably answers it, but I am overseas and can't play it. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...gwAXoECAUQAQ&usg=AOvVaw3Frc2zhtPns-PzuLbHpmTG
According to Jeopardy, Buick named it by adding a Le to the name of the F 86 fighter jet Sabre - really, it was on the show last week!
