I keeping having a leak from where the water crossover enters the top of the timing chain cover. I do have the o-ring an on this last try I put blue silicone above the nipple on the water crossover then I slid the o-ring on it an used permatex gray to seal the new victor reinz gaskets on both sides but still leaked from where the o-ring is again. What am I doing wrong? It didnt start leaking at least noticably until recently. Is the o-ring the wrong size? Do I double up gaskets on both ends to make the nipple seat beter with the o-ring? Any suggestions would be helpful, thank you

    Use two 'O' rings

Make sure there isn't severe pitting on the ID hole of cover. Silicone does help but can only do so much on a badly pitted surface. I got a special sealing/shim washer that fit inside the timing cover hole perfectly from Tom Telesco.
In some applications it seems 1 O-ring isn't quite enough to get the needed squeeze but 2 O-rings can make it very difficult to assemble as they are thick cross section.

the gasket sits in the hole not on the nipple.

Put the o-ring in the timing cover (RTV is ok) and then install the crossover...it will alway leak if the o-ring is placed on the nipple first.

I use a valve spring shim washer. Fits perfect and just tightens the ring in place. No need for silicone.

could be the special washer Tom sent you

Ok where can I get this washer? An when I use it I need to put the rubber o-ring in the top of the timing cover first then put this metal washer on top of the o-ring,then put the water crossover on.Is that right?

I see that the parts stores carry valve sprint shims, what size shim, od,id? Does the nipple of the water crossover suppose to slide through this shim an apply more pressure on this thick rubber o-ring? Thank you

Yes put the washer in first then the oring and it will make it seal tighter
