Ah, yes , I remember the lakes pipes well. there were 2 styles, shortys and full length. Lakes pipes arnt really cool unless they are hooked up and actually work. The very best ones were the ones that had the rocker panels reverse curved and the pipes tucked into the body and had heat guards on them. Moon equipment company still makes them, I think.
Patriot still makes them, they also make Smitty mufflers and Pertronix. The pipes are universal and only turn in under the front fender about a foot or so. You will need to have a muffler shop tie them into the headpipes for your exhaust. If you can't get them locally, I can give you the number to a friend in Mass. who sells them.
Flowmaster makes a muffler that is the answer to your puzzle. The inlet and the outlet are both on the same end of the muffler. Run your exhaust pipe into the muffler and tie your lake pipes into the outlet. The exhaust gas will go into the muffler, make a u-turn in the muffler and be headed towared the front of the car. Tie your lakepipes into the muffler with a U shaped pipe and they will become functional. The flowmaster part number is 52580. 5" thick, 20" overall lenght, 17" case length w/ 3' pipe, and 2.5" inlet/outlet. Ed
