Knock sensor on a Buick 455.

Anyone run a knock sensor on their Buick 455? If so where did you install it? What application was the knock sensor originally? I have a standard GM one from the '80's to '90's and the Knock Module to filter the signal, but that sensor is too big for the Buick's block's drain plugs.

I'm considering possibly drilling and tapping the back of my SPX intake for one, but I'm sure it's way less than ideal (frequency shifts between metals?).

I'm considering installing one above the A.

Why couldn't you use one of the extra motor mount bolt holes on the block.
    Good idea by the way.

    Tried, threading is wrong =/

CTX-SPLR has me convinced of a few courses of action. Tap the Bellhousing webbing behind the intake or bite the bullet and drill out a drain plug until it's big enough to tap with the right size.

My dilemma is I'd rather play it safe and do the bellhousing webbing, but I don't think I can tap it while the engine is in the car. The coolant drain plug I can get to.

I'd think the sensor would do a better job if it was in the block as well.

thats where gm put the ones for the grand national blocks, in the top edge of the webbing of the bell housing behind the intake. how would you connect this and have it read?

Yeah that's where the bellhousing webbing idea comes from. The 455 has a deeper dip in the webbing so it's harder to get to when the engine is installed.

    This is how.

I have a MegaSquirt 2 EFI setup in my Skylark with timing control. From the junkyard I grabbed a knock sensor and knock sensor module (to filter the signal) from a late 80's Chevy Truck with a 350 in it. I figured it'd be tuned to look for lower rpm pinging since it's a truck.
