My 9 year old son is such a talented kid, it blows my mind how quickly kids pick up on games and computers... some of this stuff leaves me scratching my head. He has really been into playing online games and recording his gameplay to upload to YouTube for other kids to watch. This has been something kids his age seem to be into, they would rather watch another kid play a video game than actual play themselves. (I don’t get it). Anyway, he uploaded his first edited game this morning and has been rather bummed that nobody is watching it.... I’m not real sure how these things work but I’d hazard to guess his only views are from his parents. If any of you are into computer game editing or film editing, graphics...or your kids are, please check out his video, you dont really have to watch it all, I think just clicking this link will give him a view. I know it will make his day and help his enthusiasm. I think he’s done pretty good for a 9 year old. If you want to post advice or encouragement, that is great too. Thanks for the help folks
Gave it a view. This is a great lesson for your kid. The feeling he is fealing can be a great lesson, remind him that the point of doing things is for his own enjoyment not others. In life we as men hardly get "thank you's" or "at'a boys" but we have to keep pushing forward. Teach him to keep pushing forward when no one is looking. By the way your a good dad for helping him out, and he looks like a real good boy.
Agree. You wouldn't be doing him any favors by faking thousands of views. What would have happened if little Edison had received a bunch of participation trophies?
I really appreciate the help folks, I’m going to ask him soon if his video is getting likes to see what he says. I’m trying to keep him as well rounded as possible, and he only gets a limited amount of time each day to sit in front of the computer each day to do this stuff. He also spent a couple hours yesterday helping me split and stack firewood for next winter, he hasn’t shown a whole lot of interest in the Buick (unlike my 5 year old daughter)... but I do try to show him new things and support what he does take interest in. It’s odd but he really enjoys swinging the splitting axe.... something I had no care for what-so-ever until my late teens. I’ll update you all on his reaction, thanks again!
My grandson, when he was 12, began dismantling personal computer and then build new ones with those parts and new motherboards. Still doing it at 16. He sets up gaming networks at his home for his friends to play.
It's great that you support him even if you don't get how the game really works! This way he can enjoy it. Let himexplain it to you Most important thing is to take your time with your kids and show some interest in what they do. And after he has completed a level or stage or whatever take him out in your buick andhave a blast! Gave it a view! And the first "like"
Thanks for all the help folks, I believe as of this morning his video had 43 likes which is his all time best. This was the first one he ever made where he actually edited several aspects of the video and audio to include using a green screen made out of poster board. I’m really proud of his effort and he is super stoked about his views. Thank you!
my 6+ year old grandson is good at putting kinda complicated lego kits together . he was visiting from seattle a few weeks ago and I had a thought - asked him if he'd like to put a carb together . had a holley 500 2bbl cleaned and apart . laid it out for him , walked him through the basics , explained air/fuel ratio , fuel travel etc , helped him assemble it . if i had more time I would have helped him assemble it 100% and then run it on the truck . i think he would have liked to see it run after he helped assemble it . he was curious about model cars , just bought him a snap together kit on ebay and sent it to him today . we'll see how it goes .
