Just purchased a 67 California GS project, new member from Spokane, Washington

Discussion in 'Wet behind the ears??' started by 67californiaGSkid, Nov 18, 2017.

  1. New member here out of the PNW. I've just purchased my first project, and based on my research its a real deal 67 Cali GS (would love to hear any and all opinions and info regarding the authenticity, there isnt alot of data published because of it not being nationally advertised or available)

been around and wrenching on my old man's Buicks my whole life (member 72stage2) from a 69 GS Riv, to a 72 GS, to a 86 GN, so im beyond excited to start a project of my own!

i know these are rare cars and many parts are not reproduced so id really love any info i can get, this seems like the place to be. Especially looking for a set of the CALIFORNIA emblems

Thanks in advance from a young Buick lover!

It is a base A body model with California emblems. They made more than you think. There were also Colorado’s and Carolina’s. They were dealer regional promotions. For emblems post in the parts wanted section.

The cali gs is very similar to the gs340
As far as drive line and interior.
Major difference is calis were all 2 door post models. Original interior seat covers and door panels are shared between the base special, cali gs, and gs340 and very hard to find in decent shape.
Would love to see pics of your car including the interior

Welcome aboard son! Glad to see you joined the board. You won't find a better bunch of Buick folks than right here! Pretty darn cool I have passed my love for these cars onto my kid and all the weekends and nights we spent together working on my buicks can't be replaced. Good job on your 67 cali with many more weekends of wrenching!!!

    Welcome
I also own a ‘67 Cali and am in Washington!
I have had mine for a little over a year and use it as our driver classic. It does have some mods as I don’t know how to leave things alone. I also have a ‘67 GS400 vert.
Not sure if you and your dad are aware that there is now a BCA chapter in Spokane. A great resource for Buick parts and info.
Let me know if you need info.

  11. That's awesome we didn't know about the BCA here, will definitely be looking into that. I'm sure we'll be in communication as the build progresses. Thanks!

  12. That's good to know. Car is a naked roller, so no interior, motor, trans etc. But the price was right and came with a parts car along with various BBB parts my dad and I have collected over the years. Car is good bones, practically rust free except for the roof because of the vinyl top. Pics to come!

The California GS emblems I have are off a 69 , are all the 67/8/9 the same? As I remember 68 and 9 are the same but I am unsure about 67.

  20. As I understand, the 67 emblems are different than the 68/69 because of being on the different body style.
I appreciate your time, thanks anyway
