Today I got in touch with the family that originally owned my '69 Riviera from December of 1968 until 1993. The car was originally owned by Pauline Vordembaum and was her's until her death in 1990. It was given to her 36 year old grandson in 1990 and he kept it until 1993. He felt the pressure of keeping this car all original so he sold it to a collector in his home area of San Antonio, Texas. The car was originally purchased from the Charles Orsinger Buick Co. which is now Cavender Buick in San Antonio. I wish I could find out the name of that next owner and how the car wound up being in New Jersey. I bought it from a shop in Gettysburg PA. It looks like I still have some research to do but it was sure nice talking on the phone with the original owner's grandson. He said he has some pictures of his grandmother with the car, when it was new, that he will send me.

I'm sure many of you know how good it felt to discover the roots of my favorite Buick. The previous owner was just as pleased to see current pictures of it and find that it's still in great condition. Now I know for a fact that I really do have one of those "little old lady" cars.

I've traced some of the original owners of some of my Buicks, too. I'm the 3rd owner of my '72 GS, and I bought it from the 2nd owner's wife (so she could pay to get him out of jail. That's what she told me. She sold me the car CHEAP, and the only things that were missing were the original Ram Air Cleaner, and the Sport Steering Wheel, which I immediately found and installed!:bglasses: )

When I got the car home, I found an envelope in the glovebox, with Alignment specs, and they were PERFECT!
The car STILL drives STRAIGHT down the road!:bglasses:
The name on the work order was different than the owner before me, so I called the number.
I explained to the guy that answered, that I was the new owner of the '72 GS. He was excited that it was still around, and congratulated me on buying it. He went on to tell me that he bought the car NEW in '72 and still HAS the original Ram Air Cleaner, and the original RADIO.

He told me to "stop by and pick it up, if you want it. I'll try to find anything else that would be for it, too.":bglasses:

    That was half the fun

    Scott,
Hearing how thrilled that guy was to know that his grandmother's and his own efforts to keep the car like new were not wasted was at least half of the fun. I wish I could find out where it was from 1993 to 2002.
