I am weary from two ,6 hr round trips. Saturday morning I spotted a 70 Skylark on craigslist. Got on the phone , and got the address, 3 1/2 hrs later, title in hand , wallet lightened! Another 3 plus hours and back home, to round up the troops.
Towing company wanted the price of the vehicle to tow it to my place in NH from Western Ma, actually laughed when I told em where it was going. Hung up and called a few friends. An hour later I had a dolly and was loaded and ready to go on the 3 hour tour again (one way). Sunday my friend and I went out and loaded her up for a white knuckle drag all the way to south eastern NH. She is safe and sound in the yard!! No motor and trans in it, I have a 455 and a TH400 for it.

Just started crawlin under and around it, 12 bolt rear , supposedly came with a 350 originally. I am the third owner of a 188000 mile Buick! The VIN is 435370G142660 . Its 95 degrees plus outside so I will look for more codes under seat etc tonight while I`m clearing the garage for the project. Gotta tell ya guys/gals , I AM STOKED! JIM/Rott

Hey congratulations! I just went thru a similar purchase, although mine was locally bought off craigslist, I have a trailer, and yours looks to be in better shape than my 64 Special. Plus you have a motor and trans ready to stab in. Does your 70 have an interior? If it does then add another step ahead of me, hehe. Mine's a shell. I asked about decoding the vin but on mine it's the old shorter number so I can tell mine was a V8 Special deluxe. Mine is also missing the body tag, but I'm guessing your's still has the body tag, post those up and we can decode your car some more.

TY Kevin. My interior is actually in good shape, driver side bench seat hole and rug wear holes in carpet, slightly damaged driver door panel from a leaking or partially rolled down window, and the rear dash is toast, everything else is above average.

Brad TY very much-will do when the temps drop and I can get out there!

Congrats, Jim. You have the beginnings of a great project and with your 455/T400 it will be a screamer. Are you going to do a GS455 tribute car or, leave it as a skylark/sleeper? You're way ahead of the game if that 12 bolt is a 3 series posi too. Enjoy your new Buick in good health and have fun restoring it. :TU:

TY RAY,Gonna do the sleeper thang. I have 455 emblems, but will put em on my toolbox instead! Crawled under the car to see if rearend had a tag on the pumpkin, couldn`t find one. Will be pulling car in garage to pull body off the frame and will hopefully find numbers or tag I can use to identify what exactly it is. Seller said it was a uni-spin, but it may very well be a limited slip or posi. When I dragged it around a very sharp turnaround when I had it on the dolly the rear tires both left rubber? POSI? To be later determined! Stay tuned(I`ll probably start a "project" thread).

Got in from a quick car visit, sat in it and mad sum car noises, VROOM! I`m just a big 48 yr old kid! Got some more info from body tag-------------->
