Jet sizes?

I have a Holley Street Avenger 870 on my BBB/455. It was running rich so I rejetted it. It had 78's in the front so I went down one size to a 77 and it seemed to help, I could probably get away with another size lower.
My question is should I rejet the rear down one size also? How far apart should it be jetted from front to back? I think the back has 82's in it.
Thanks for any suggestions or ideas.

Rule of thumb is no more than 4 jet sizes. I'd try 76-80. Jim

Not to take this off topic, but how do you like your Street Avenger? A friend offered me a VERY good deal on the same carb w/ vacuum secondaries that I haven't said yea/nah to...

    What cam are you running?

    Thanks :bglasses:

    Hey! No problem.
I run the TA 288/96h cam installed 4* advanced. 230/240 duration I believe. (Close to the same specs as the Pontiac Ram Air IV cam.)
I have been very happy with the carb especially since changing the jets. (Mine is vacuum secondaries)
I also run a 1 inch spacer on the Edelbrock intake.
    Good luck.

I like to run the primaries just rich enough to avoid a lean miss at cruising speeds. For secondaries I like to keep going more and more rich until the ET suffers, then lean it back out one or two steps. The actual numbers spread front to rear will also depend on whether you're running power valve(s) or not.
