Does anyone here have any experience w/ quality, sound, etc of either of these side pipes from JC Whitney? I want side pipes but I want a *loud* very aggressive flowdaddy type sound. I'm slightly afraid these would be too muffled or something. I want something like a 40 series flow or glasspack as far as sound level. http://www.jcwhitney.com/product.jh...D=14714&BQ=jcw2 http://www.jcwhitney.com/product.jh...D=14715&BQ=jcw2
Welp... I can pretty much assure you that NO ONE on this website has any experience with side pipes... J
I Dunno, Jim....... 1978, leisure suits, "Disco Fever", hood pins, vans, airbrushed lace panels, mondo fender flares.... There's some SIN in the PAST! Maybe sidepipes too...
Re: I Dunno, Jim....... Mondo BONDO flares to match your flared pants  Side pipes are cool, on a car from the 50's. Lake pipes?
Dont forget shag dash covers and those stupid little balls that hang from the top of the windshield uzzled:   Larry
Re: Re: I Dunno, Jim....... Hey! The factory side pipes that came on the mid-year Vettes were very cool, as were the ones on the Cobra. Those were all done after the 50's. - Freed
I do like the side pipes on this one: http://www.madmaxmovies.com/fanstuff/cars/Landau/index.html It goes well with the rest of the package. - Freed
Mad Max. p The Aussies sure have some interesting cars. It looks like a cross between a Torino Mercury Cyclone (Monteray?) Javelin Charger And what have you. Part of that front bumper looks like '55 or '56 Buick to me. We now return you to the original topic already in progress. Sorry
forget the sidepipes, nothing says I have a huge penis like a set of 8 open chrome pipes sticking right up through the hood, preferably with a 5 foot supercharger mounted betwen them..............
I think most chrome sidepipes i've saw on cars look really good. If not though i will either run a 3in pipe w/ 2 chambers flowdaddys cut off or 1 chambers all the way out back. But again though i like the sidepipe look.
Re: Re: Re: I Dunno, Jim....... I had a 66 Sting Ray Roadster 327 4 speed car with the factory side exhaust for 12 yrs. Man, were those things loud especially with the resonance at around 70 MPH! If I remember right, that design side exhaust was a two year factory version with 66-7. They also made another style factory side exhaust for the C3 cars in 69. Those covers are different from the 66-7. I have a brother in law with the 69 with that side exhaust with the car getting a resto in West Virginia right now. Anyone old enough to remember the Thrush side pipes back in the 60's and 70's? That was the hot ticket in the day.
Re: Re: Re: Re: I Dunno, Jim....... That's music, my good man, not noise...................... Nothing sounds better than a downshift in one of those cars.......nothing !

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: I Dunno, Jim....... I agree! Dad has the factory side pipes on his 65 vette. - Freed
side pipes I had a 67 427 vette convertible 4 spd (how would I know it was an investment???) in the mid 70's with factory side pipes. The motor had been built by a pro team in the stock car circuit, so the story goes, anyway the baffles in the side pipes were GONE and that baby was LOUD - but swweeeetttt! It would rattle the windows in my house when it was idling. Going to work at 5 AM sorta shattered the morning stillness! I'm sure my neighbors in Suffolk VA were happy when I sold it! Great memories! - Bill
