Dumb question, but I've been wondering....

I installed an HR Parts N Stuff Anti Roll bar on my 72 GS. The bar is right under the rear differential. Where do you put the jack now when jacking up rear of car with floor jack?

    Thank you.

Yeah, that's a piece of iron. Can you get a good angle and purchase on the bottom front of the housing?

Can you loosen the bolts and jimmy it around? You should be able to slip the jack between the bar and the housing. Can you post a pic?

I'll post a pic this weekend. I don't want to have to loosen bolts every time I jack it up. I have an old jack, maybe I can get an insert with better reach.

I've notched a block of wood in the past with good results-goes between the jack pad and sway bar/differential

I meant can you move it out of the way, not move it each time. That would be a major pain in the neck!
I just realized that's not a factory style bar, correct? Still, it looks like there is a gap between the bar and the bottom rear of the pumpkin. My jack saddle is the older large disc and I slip it between the bar and the bottom of the pumpkin. It's thin enough to do that and has the over hang. Maybe look for an old style saddle?

That is a the method to use if there is no space to place the jack head under the pot.
U should not jack on the stabilizer bar, especially with a full tank of gas. the bar will bend. Would be okay if the tank was empty. Been there, done that for both full & empty tank.

Really??? The extra 100 pounds that fuel tank of fuel is enough to bend the bar????

I personally would jack up on the bar, I would just notch a chunk out of 6x6 to clear the bar still cradle the pumpkin.

But I cant see it being ok without gas but the extra 100 pounds if full bends the bar

Correct, not the factory bar. I'll notch a piece of wood.

    Thank you.

X2, that's what I do. Just make sure the bar is centered on the jack saddle.

Or, if the bar isn't centered in the jack saddle.

Had one on my 70 GS. You could have had 6 people in the car, a full tank of gas and a trunk full of bricks and still not bend that HR Parts bar! LOL That bar is ridged, and being heat treated, if it would flex somewhat, it'll spring right back...… it WON'T bend. I used a round rubber pad on my floor jack and ground a slight notch in the rubber to help locate and center on the bar. Worked great!!

I have that bar on 2 different 12-bolts. I’ve never had a problem sneaking the jack under the housing just behind the bar. Check and double check to make sure of the placement. I just can’t bring myself to jack on the bar.

I have a stock sway bar and always place the jack in the middle of it.Works fine.

I just slide the jack under mine and jack away and smash the bar against the center section, your NOT hurting anything, aside from maybe chipping paint off:rolleyes:
The bar will flex, then return back to where it was when your done.
How do you think the frame feels when yah jack it up by the left front, right front, right rear, left rear?
Whole lotta twisting going on there:eek::D
