Thanks for that correction Guy. I guess I was confusing the fact that Dennis and his crew put it together and getting it straight from the factory. Sorry for any confusion.

Any way you slice it, it's a Super Car. With a super history!!

I remember reading years ago about the magazine test article where the guys tortured one of them and it ended up catching on fire?!?! That's the car that donated it's hood to the JB car, is that right? I remember reading about someone cooking the clutch...

Was that write up in the old Buick Power Book??

    Been a long time.....

As per Dennis manner, the white GSX Stage 2 Buick engineer Missed a shift kick rod never caught on fire than was dismantled by buick. That was the end of the stage 2 project. Buick then offer the STAGE 2 HEADS over the counter the cam an pistons were already available.

Well, I am just full of mis-information.

I'm usually pretty good about only quoting stuff I am sure about, but evidently I know much less than I thought I did.:confused:

Thanks again for the corrections and sorry to perpetuate a story full of holes.

Philip, don't take it the wrong way we're all far from perfect there has been so many stories about the factory white GSX stage 2 mainly on the Internet that are not correct, I'm still hoping that Buick really didn't dismantle the car and it will be on earthed one day as the Aerosmith song says dream on . I still have dreams once in a while .

Yes, at least these 3 were all ordered together by the Show's, Display's and Exhibits division of Buick. Probably many more we don't know everything about yet. All were within a few body numbers, all were within 1 week in production, all were ordered with basically the same equipment, maybe minor interior differences but that is about it. Red Show Car and mine were ordered as 10/10 with white bucket's. Exactly same equipment, exactly same invoice confirmed by Sloan. If I'm not mistaken, Guy's Reynolds had the basic black interior. There were more, of that I'm sure.

not correct. Just sent back to Buick then dismantled, hood and air pan was saved for the J/B car. Where these stories come from is beyond me.

oh gosh don’t feel bad about it. You read it in a reputable magazine that got it all wrong. Happens all the time with these mags

I must say, Masterful job on the restoration!

As I'm getting older I've really grown more appreciative of these cars with all the history.

Thanks! It was a pretty easy restoration as not one part had any rust. And just replated most of the original hardware. Where most rust free cars still had some rust in area’s from rain, this car probably didn’t see any rain.
The hardest part but most enjoying was uncovering the true history. Also just as enjoyable is reuniting the car with the people that made it happen. It actually brought tears to some of them including Pete Reynolds.

Hey Guy, I met Dave at the Nationals in the early nineties when he was racing the Reynolds car. I think his business was called NW Buick because he came from Washington State, I still have one of his blue T-shirts he was selling, anyways I was checking out the car real close and noticed that factory hood/air cleaner assembly and realized I was looking at something pretty damn rare at the time. I think there was a "For Sale" sign in the window or I asked him how much for the car and at the time it was way out of my league. It's funny that about 10 years later when the Little Joe race car from Ohio came up for sale I was able to buy it and rebuild the entire driveline and I had about the same amount of money in it that Dave wanted for his car in the first place. I"d sure like to see that car again, do you think you might take it to the Nationals this year? Larry.

Guy, I for one would love to see your legendary car. Along with both Brad's GSXs. I miss them in 83.

I thought that everything you read on the internet was true.
