Don't forget those rods are 7.250 long. With the extra dwell at TDC less ignition timing is needed. Before selling those rods and pistons to Briz, my engine produced the most power with 30* total timing. Every combination is different though. Larry
I went with new 1.7-1 rockers bought new from TA. Sold those rockers to Hugger last week. I wanted to use them on the Riv but due the the 430 oiling through the block and the rocker shaft being solid it was a no go.
Here is my question after I tell you something, Fred Catlin's 1969 superstocker made 750 horsepower on ported factory Stage 1's and once he switched to Factory Stage 2's, he made almost 850 horsepower. He never ran a so called balance line, just basic block oiling mods and front cover mods. And dig this, a simple Kenne-Bell booster plate in oil pump. Not even running 50 weight oil either. Fred say's that oil is wrong weight. I'll find out tomorrow what weight oil he ran. But his superstocker ran 9.38 at 153 mph his engine was a simple non roller engine. 528 C.I.D.
Think its a safety / ins thing. once they check the timing and engine for leakes ect Cory vacates the room before the actual pull. I've seen vids with catastrophic failures on the dyno and I wouldnt want to be in the room when that happens
Ohhhhh now ya tell me after I shell out the big bucks to TA:spank:. Dont know how long they last but it might not be a bad idea to have a spare.
I expect to start tearing up the car now that it has some real power in it. My money is on the drive shaft or U joints being the first to go.
I was also worried so I have two extra and I am still on the first one. I just had the disturber out and the gear looked like new.
You read my mind.:Smarty: This engine was still in pieces in the back of my truck when your came up for sale. I thought the same thing back then and more so now. I know the power is going to tear the Regal up. It will be fun as long as i dont get hurt!:Brow:
